Jill Wagner Talks ‘Joys’ of Children: ‘Gift From God’
By Movieguide Contributor
In a new Great American Community video, actress and Movieguide® award nominee Jill Wagner shared some of the “joys of being a mom.”
Wagner shares daughters, Army Gray and Daisy Roberta, with husband, David Lemanowicz. Wagner also co-parents stepdaughter Lija Lemanowicz with David.
“Through all of that tiredness in being a parent, I start thinking about how–especially being a mom– how wonderful it is to be a mom,” Wagner said with a smile.
“Just the joys of being a mom and seeing them grow…It’s just such an amazing thing,” she continued. “We have these little people with us for, I don’t know, it just seems like such a short amount of time…It just seems like you only have this short amount of time with them that they’re really, really yours. It’s such a beautiful time. I just feel so lucky that I get to experience this in my lifetime, because I didn’t know if I was going to because I had my kids late in life.”
“They really, really are truly a gift from God. It seems like I’m getting to live a whole other life through them. You know, they always say, ‘kids can age you’ but, I think they can keep you young because you get to experience all of the stuff again. It makes you feel like a kid again to see everything though them and to watch how they interact with life. What a blessing,” Wagner concluded.
The actress reflected on motherhood previously, calling it “the honor of my life” in an Instagram post.
Before her marriage, Wagner revealed that she wanted to start a family despite her successful career.
“On paper, my life looked perfect. I was this actress, and I was traveling all around, and everything was exciting. But really all I wanted was stability, and I wanted a family, and I wanted a husband, and I didn’t quite understand what was wrong with me and why couldn’t have those things,” she explained.
She eventually rebuilt her relationship with God.
“And then I started to feel like ‘Wow, maybe I’m going to be good being alone by myself,’ but not really by myself because I had God. So that was what I needed. I think I needed to know that God was with me no matter what and then I let it go,” said Wagner.
Shortly after, she met her husband. “We both actually found our faith again and realize how important it is in our relationship and not just…our personal relationship with God but our relationship with one another. And we put that first now in our marriage,” she added.
