Jim Caviezel Lost Agents, Lawyers Over SOUND OF FREEDOM
By Movieguide® Contributor
Actor Jim Caviezel recently shared how his involvement in SOUND OF FREEDOM impacted his professional life.
“I want this to be so huge that they’re forced to look at this,” Caviezel said. “I lost my agents over this. Yep, 17 years, 15 years. I lost my lawyer over this, and now I understand why all these actors didn’t want to do this movie because of this.”
“Listen, you do SHINDLER’S LIST 50 years later, you’re a hero. Try doing SCHINDLER’S LIST when the Nazis are right there. Understand how that becomes more dangerous? I don’t understand why people are willing to let children be hurt, but in this time, Hollywood says, ‘No, no, let’s kick that down fifty years from now and then [see where we’re at]. That’s crap,” he continued.
Caviezel is no stranger to controversy. The actor frequently stars in faith-based films, such as THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, which often lands him in hot water within an industry that balks at Christianity.
The actor, however, does not let the potential backlash he could face stop him from creating movies that he believes in.

Caviezel spoke to Fox News Digital about modern day Christianity and said, “The problem is that modern day Christianity has become so weak and useless. I mean, modern day Christians are more afraid of the devil than they are of God. God could destroy the devil without a glance, but he looks to us to make a decision.”
He added, “So, you have moral depravity. I mean, moral decay everywhere, falling apart. Laws don’t mean anything anymore. We don’t have a First Amendment…There’s no such thing as free speech anymore. You’re absolutely destroyed everywhere, and the media throws out everybody’s a racist.”
Caviezel stated that his main purpose for SOUND OF FREEDOM isn’t to entertain audiences but to spread a message.
The Daily Wire reported on Caviezel, “The purpose God gave me in this business, I wanted to bring his light. And it doesn’t mean I’m always his light into an industry. And I wanted to do that, but it doesn’t mean that I’m not going to play the devil in movies. Just there’s got to be some sort of moral redemption.”
At the time of this writing, SOUND OF FREEDOM has grossed more than $90 million in the box office, daily beating out movies like INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY and INSIDIOUS: RED DOOR. The feat is particularly impressive given that SOUND OF FREEDOM is showing in fewer theaters.
