SOUND OF FREEDOM star Jim Caviezel recently confirmed he was struck by lighting while filming THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST.
While filming Mel Gibson’s film THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST Caviezel was struck by lighting on “the last shot of the film,” he told Fox News Digital.
The strike led to two heart surgeries, one being an open heart surgery, and “lot’s of medication.”
To add to the lighting strike, Caviezel also had a 150 pound cross fall on him.
“It fell on my head, and I bit through my tongue and my cheek,” Caviezel remembered.
“And it was actually in the film,” he continued. “You see blood streaming out of my mouth” during the scene. Caviezel’s left shoulder was also dislocated.
“I had really struggled with that all film,” he recalled.
Caviezel’s latest movie, SOUND OF FREEDOM, projected a $40 million opening week, beating out major movies and studios, including Disney’s INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY.
“As with our July 4th numbers, today’s numbers exceed our expectations, and we’re going to continue this momentum. SOUND of FREEDOM has taken on a life of its own. We’re getting messages from all over the country telling us about packed theaters, sold-out theaters, and spontaneous standing ovations for the film in numerous locations. Seeing this film has become a must thanks to incredible word-of-mouth,” said Brandon Purdie, Head of Theatrical Distribution at Angel Studios. “We’re deeply grateful to AMC, Cinemark, Regal, and all our theater partners—and their hard-working theater staff members—for working with us to accommodate the surging demand for this film and having the courage to release SOUND OF FREEDOM during the busiest movie season of the year.”
The movie maintained top 3 throughout its first week in theaters.
