Actor Jim Caviezel reminded his fans that finding honor in the eyes of God is so much greater than any praise we can receive while on this earth.
“Your name may not appear down here in this world’s hall of fame. In fact, you may be so unknown that no one knows your name,” Caviezel told TBN’s audience. “The Oscars and the praise of men may never come your way, but don’t forget God has rewards that He’ll hand out some day. This crowd on earth, they will soon forget when you’re not at the top. They will cheer like mad until you fall, and then the praise will stop.”
“Not God, He never does forget, and in His hall of fame, by just believing in His son, forever there’s your name. I tell you, friend, I wouldn’t trade my name, however small, that’s written there beyond the stars in that celestial hall,” Caviezel continued. “For all the famous names on earth or the glory that they share, I’d rather be an unknown here and have my name up there.”
Despite being a well-known actor, Caviezel has lived this principle out throughout his career, taking on controversial roles that honor God, rather than pursuing a career for his own fame. In doing so, he has lifted up the Lord through movies like THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST and SOUND OF FREEDOM, which have made him unpopular in Hollywood, while being a household name.
“Both films gave me the chance to play individuals who stood for only good and who were willing to make extreme sacrifices to try to help others, literally rescuing them,” Caviezel told Jetset Magazine in 2023. “It creates a humbling effect to carry the magnitude of these roles and I hope that I might have the courage in my life to make the right decisions, too, when tested.”
“People [in the entertainment industry] are always saying, Look, I’m not your kid’s role model.’ But that’s wrong,” Caviezel added in an interview with Crosswalk. “I don’t care how you look at it; we’re all role models. And there’s a responsibility that comes with that.”

For that reason, Caviezel uses his platform to point others towards Christ and share how we can all serve Him better, rather than simply promoting himself. Caviezel also continues to take on roles that honor God to continue to spread the Gospel. For example, he is returning for a sequel to THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST which will follow Jesus after the resurrection occurs.
