NCIS’ Brian Dietzen, Katrina Law Hint at Jimmy/Jess Drama in Season 21 Finale

NCIS couple Jessica Knight and Dr. Jimmy Palmer have something heating up in NCIS’ Season 21 finale, “Reef Madness.”
“Speaking with TVLine’s Keisha Hatchett on Thursday night at CBS’ fall schedule reveal party, Rocky Carroll, who plays Vance, said that Knight (Katrina Law) finds herself ‘at a crossroads, both professionally and personally’ in Monday’s finale, when Vance presents her with the aforementioned career move,” TV Line reported May 3.
Movieguide® reported on Monday:
“Vance knows that she may want a change, and Carroll explains Vance’s reasoning,” TV Shows Ace said. “He explained that he thinks ‘Vance knows that Agent might be at a crossroads personally and professionally, and a change of venue, a change of scenery might do her good.’ Rocky Carroll also reveals that Leon knows from his own experience that a change can help. ‘He knows that sometimes a change of location allows you to clear your head.’”
A “fresh start” may distract her from her personal matters with Jimmy (Brian Dietzen) and her dad. But her relationship with Jimmy may hold her back.
In the episode, Palmer realizes that Knight’s next move may be the end of their relationship.
“There’s some bubbling. There’s some stuff bubbling to the surface,” Dietzen said.
“Ever since Knight forgot to introduce Palmer to her father, there have been some issues that have been happening off-screen,” Law said. “I think both of them have been doing some soul searching to figure out what direction they would like to go—and if they’re going to be going in the same direction at the same time.”
Caroll confirmed that Law’s decisions will be revealed in the finale. Fans won’t be left with questions.
Dietzen added that there’s more to enjoy besides the romantic tension—“people’s lives in danger, there is some action, there’s wonderful stunt work, amazing sets…It’s not one to be missed.” And viewers “should worry about a lot of characters. No character is safe.”
He told Deadline, “Gary Cole and Katrina Law knock it out of the park in this episode. There are a lot of things that are going to be happening, not just the danger that our characters are put through, but also dynamics that are going to be shifting.”
The script is “so good” that it’s Dietzen’s favorite finale he’s seen in “years.” But it’s “intense” and may involve the loss of a team member or two.
Dietzen told Entertainment Tonight, “I’ll say this, the finale is not to be missed. There is some intense stuff, and when I say intense, I mean intense, like it’s stuff that we haven’t hit in a long, long time as far as the life and death that is happening within this episode.”
Law also teased that the finale will include “fundamental changes,” which will “lead to an interesting next season.”
