Joanna Gaines Shares Sweet Video Of Son Crew’s ‘Adventures on the Farm’

By Movieguide® Staff

HGTV star Joanna Gaines shared a precious video of her son Crew with fans on Instagram.

The 5-year-old led his mother through a mini-adventure on their farm located on their family property in Waco, Texas.

“Crew’s adventures on the farm? (And then pressing clovers so I’ll never forget these sweet moments✨),” Gaines captioned the video.

The clip opens with Crew and Joanna trudging through a clover-lined creek in rainboots over the song “Home from Home” by Roo Panes. “Keep Going,” Crew says as the mother-son duo work their way through the creek.

Joanna stops in place, saying, “OK listen,” pointing out the trickling sound of the creek water. “What a cute tree,” she says as Crew bends down to give the tree an innocent kiss. “I hope you grow, little guy,” Crew says while petting the sapling. Crew grabs a handful of clover along the creek edge and proudly hands it to his mom. After watching a stunning sunset, the video shows the pair pressing the clovers and writing sweet messages to mark their special adventure on the farm.

Joanna and husband, Chip Gaines, share five children: Drake, 18, Ella, 17, Duke, 15, Emmie, 13, and Crew.

The FIXER UPPER star has been open about the joys and sorrows that go along with motherhood.

When reflecting on her oldest son driving on his own for the first time, she said, “It hurts to see my son leave in such an obvious display of what it looks like to grow out of us.”

At the same time, though, Crew was waiting to play with her.

“The light softened, my heart swelled, and at that moment, I knew how essential that rhythm is, to lose and then gain, to have and to hold, only to let go,” she said. “It was a gift of perspective….it was this beautiful and gracious reminder of the bigger picture. Showing me that highs follow lows, that sorrow and joy can go hand in hand. And that letting go reveals what else our arms are made to carry.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Gaines’ thoughts on motherhood:

As Joanna Gaines has gotten older, she’s been reflecting on her life and her mindset as a mother.

Gaines shared that previously, she thought, “I’m the mom, I should have the answers.” However, now she understands the importance of being “vulnerable.”

“The older I’ve gotten, I’ve realized the more humanity these kids can see in me, the more we’re going to connect,” Gaines explained.

She continued, “I want them to see the highs and lows, so when they’re feeling anxieties about school or relationships, they know it’s a safe place for them to come to me.”

This lesson comes just in time for a pretty big life change for the Gaines family. Drake, their eldest child, is getting ready to head off to college.

“When [Drake] was Crew’s age, people would look at me and say, ‘Oh, you better hold on tight. It goes by fast,’” she shared. “Now, being a mother of a 4-year-old and an almost 18-year-old, it’s a constant reminder to not take these moments for granted.”
