Jonathan Roumie Lands First Rom-Com — Here’s What We Know

THE CHOSEN actor Jonathon Roumie is jumping into a new genre with his first rom-com, SOLO MIO.

“Alyson Hannigan, Nicole Grimaudo (LOOSE CANNONS), Kim Coates (SONS OF ANARCHY, GODLESS), Jonathan Roumie (THE CHOSEN), Julee Cerda (VACATION FRIENDS 2) and Julie Ann Emery (HITCH) are boarding the Kevin James romantic comedy SOLO MIO,” Deadline reported Oct. 15.

The logline reads:

In SOLO MIO, Matt (James)’s fiancé has dreamed of a wedding in Italy. He saves up and flies his whole family over for the wedding and has even booked a lavish honeymoon after. When his fiancé stands him up at the altar, he is forced to go on his honeymoon alone, thrusting him into the beautiful culture of Italy and renewing his passion for life and food. Along the way he meets Gia, who reminds Matt that love and happiness is a reality.

Hannigan will play a twice-divorced woman on her third honeymoon. Details for which characters Roumie and the other actors will play are scarce, per CBR.

“Roumie has a… desire to help people see the Lord in a new light, something he brings with him whether he’s portraying Jesus on THE CHOSEN or Lonnie Frisbee on JESUS REVOLUTION.

Nickel City Pictures and Jeffery Greenstein’s A Higher Standard will produce the movie. Patrick Kinnane and John Kinnane wrote the script. Chuck Kinnane and Dan Kinnane will direct. Greenstein, Mark Fasano and Kevin James will produce.

“Roumie is best known for his role as Jesus in the hit series, THE CHOSEN, and he’s also lent his voice to other projects such as TOMB RAIDER: THE LEGEND OF LARA CROFT and CASTLEVANIA: NOCTURNE,” Collider added. “Hannigan first made a name for herself starring in BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, and she then further expanded her stardom by featuring in AMERICAN PIE and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. Grimaudo is best known for her role in LOOSE CANNONS, and Coates is famous for his role as Alexander ‘Tig’ Trager in SONS OF ANARCHY, the gangster crime drama that’s currently streaming on Hulu.”

James collaborated with Nickel City and Higher Standard earlier this year for the upcoming action-comedy, PLAYDATE.
