Kathy Ireland Shares Faith Journey: ‘My Life Forever Changed’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Former model Kathy Ireland is opening up about her faith journey and how it changed her life “forever.”
“Jesus was nothing like I thought,” Ireland explained. “I was listening to other people’s soundbites about who He was and what the Bible said.”
She shared the exact moment she began her relationship with God. During “a really lonely time in Paris,” she decided to read the Bible her mother had put in her suitcase.
“I didn’t know how to read it. And I was a rebellious teenager questioning who really knows the truth, who really knows what’s right or wrong. And as I read, I just knew that what I was holding in my hands was the truth and my life forever changed,” Ireland said.
She continued, “I was alone in that room, so nobody was telling me, be this denomination or that denomination. It was just, I want to follow Him. And that changed everything for me because at that moment, Jesus became my Lord and Savior. And I knew if He’s with me, who could be against me?”
Ireland said she is “so grateful” for her relationship with God, adding, “I’m a slow learner, and I’m just so grateful He’s so patient.”
Today, Ireland is a successful entrepreneur and an outspoken pro-life advocate.
“If we saw someone murdering a three-year-old on the street, we would intervene,” Ireland explained. “When you recognize that this is a human being that we’re talking about, you do whatever you can to stop it. Once you know the truth, it’s hard to un-know it.”
While attending Live Action’s Life Awards Gala, Ireland addressed women who had had abortions.
“To the women who’ve had abortions — the estimation is one-in-four — just know that nothing is too big for God,” she said. “We bring it to him; we repent. He redeems and restores.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Ireland’s faith:
Ireland frequently talks about her faith journey and how it has impacted her.
“The most important relationship in my life is with Jesus, and though I became a Christian at 18…I am so grateful that God is so patient and so gracious,” she told Fox News. “Without Him, I don’t know. I certainly wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t be anywhere. His love is unconditional, and it’s there for anyone to receive it. He’s there with open arms for everybody.”
Ireland has also shared one of the Bible verses that she often returns to as she reflects on being a “slow learner” in her faith.
Ireland shared that one of her favorite verses is Joel 2:25—“I will restore the years the locusts have eaten.”
“I felt like I wasted so much time, but God is so good. He redeems,” she concluded.
