Katrina Law’s Future on NCIS Uncertain as Possible Departure Looms
By Movieguide® Contributor
It looks like there’s a possibility NCIS’s Katrina Law might leave the show.
“The strike-shortened NCIS Season 21 is almost at an end. However, in the season finale entitled ‘Reef Madness,’ the synopsis could alarm Katrina Law fans who are concerned about her character Agent Jessica Knight,” TV Shows Ace said on May 2.
“Rocky Carroll, who portrays Director Leon Vance, has already broken down the situation that Agent Knight is in right now,” TV Shows Ace said.
The director gives Knight a “legacy offer,” her dad’s position as Special Agent-in-Charge of the NCIS Far East Field Office.
“Vance knows that she may want a change, and Carroll explains Vance’s reasoning,” TV Shows Ace said. “He explained that he thinks ‘Vance knows that Agent might be at a crossroads personally and professionally, and a change of venue, a change of scenery might do her good.’ Carroll also reveals that Leon knows from his own experience that a change can help. ‘He knows that sometimes a change of location allows you to clear your head.’”
A “fresh start” may distract her from her personal matters with Jimmy and her dad. But her relationship with Jimmy may hold her back.
US Weekly reported, “Jessica and medical examiner Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) sparked an interoffice romance during season 20. Earlier this season, the pair hit a bump in the road when Jessica’s dad came to visit and pointed out that a relationship wasn’t in her initial plan to become a boss at NCIS.”
On top of her present personal issues, she’s still deeply affected by the deaths of her team members who died in an explosion in Season 18.
“This idea that Agent Jessica Knight could be moving on would mean that Katrina Law would be leaving the series,” TV Shows Ace said.
“No departure notice has been made. Neither CBS nor Katrina Law have indicted she is leaving the series. However, fans of the Mothership know that anything is possible,” TV Shows Ace said.
Over 21 seasons, numerous NCIS agents have departed from the series.
Movieguide® recently reported the cancellation of one of the NCIS spinoff series, NCIS: HAWAI’I:
After NCIS just aired its collective 1000th episode, one branch of the NCIS universe is getting canceled.
NCIS HAWAI’I, “starring Vanessa Lachey as Jane Tennant, the first female Special Agent in Charge at NCIS Pearl Harbor, the spinoff series has followed her and her team as they balance their duty to family and country, investigating high-stakes crimes involving military personnel, national security, and the mysteries of Hawai’i itself,” Entertainment Weekly said.
The finale of the series will air on May 6.
Per TV Insider, the NCIS “Reef Madness” finale features a mysterious old Navy ship with three bodies inside. Once the agents encounter the bodies, an inscrutable figure traps them inside.
