Kel Mitchell Encourages Us To ‘Lean On’ God’s Understanding

Actor Kel Mitchell is encouraging people to “lean” on God and work with Him to “create something cool within your life.”
“When I was a kid, I wanted to learn the Michael Jackson ‘lean’ move,” the GOOD BURGER star explained in an Instagram video, adding that it was a difficult move that could “break your face” if you didn’t do it correctly.
Mitchell went on to say that he later found out Jackson worked with a designer who made him magnetic shoes, which allowed him to perform the move.
“They were working together and created something really, really cool, and that is what God is saying to you,” Mitchell said before reciting Proverbs 3:5-6. “Lean not on your own understanding…[because] you’ll end up hurting yourself. But lean on my understanding, lean on my knowledge, my ideas, and I will direct your path, and we can really create something really cool together.”
He concluded, “Let the Creator who created you create something cool within your life every day. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
These days, Mitchell is promoting his latest movie, GOOD BURGER 2, which reunites him with co-star Kenan Thompson. The pair famously fell out as they got older, but Thompson recently explained how the rift started — and how they repaired the friendship.
“It was just us kind of looking for our own individualism, basically, as adults, taking a breather from being a duo because we both came into the game as individuals,” Thompson explained. “It was just a journey of being adults.”
He continued, “When you have a real friendship, it was five minutes into the phone call, we were back. It was like, what were we waiting on all this time? You just never really know until you actually have that talk. It’s also time wasted, which is one of the biggest crimes I think you can do in life is just waste time. It feels so good to be back with my brother, and the movie is doing well. We’re so appreciative, looking forward to the next chapters.”
“It’s a brotherhood,” Mitchell told PEOPLE. “We’ve known each other since we were kids. We both had our own journeys and journeys together. It’s a friendship that has been [able to last] over a test of time, which is super awesome.”

However, Mitchell took the opportunity to quote scripture and pray with his former GOOD BURGER co-star.
