Kel Mitchell On World Vision Partnership: ‘We’re All God’s Children’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Actor and youth minister Kel Mitchell is sharing his family’s Christmas traditions and detailing his partnership with World Vision.
“Of course spending time with family,” Mitchell told The Hollywood Reporter when asked about his favorite part of the holidays. “We also love the movie HOME ALONE. That’s like a tradition here in the family. And then a lot of singing, a lot of playing board games and just being thankful for all the things God has done for this year and being thankful, man.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Mitchell’s faith:
Actor, producer and pastor Kel Mitchell spoke about how his faith in God is central to his work in Hollywood and his ministry.
“Being an ambassador for Christ is very important to me. That is first, and I always talk about putting Him in everything in my life,” Mitchell said over a Zoom at the Liberty University Convocation.
Although Mitchell confessed that the balance between his family and his career is difficult, the GOOD BURGER star said that it is made possible by his foundation of faith in God.
“Even in troubled times and in good times, the Lord (is) there,” Mitchell told the students.
The actor also discussed his partnership with World Vision, a relationship that has been going on “for years.”
“They reached out to me because they know that I love giving back and helping others,” Mitchell explained. “I love God and giving back and putting a smile on people’s faces. And one of the quotes that I use all the time is ‘spread love like confetti.’ When I was on DANCING WITH THE STARS, they love confetti cannons, and I used to come home with confetti on me all the time. It’s the same way with love. You take it everywhere you go, and that’s what World Vision does every year with their gift catalog.”
He continued, “It’s really just about giving back and letting everyone know that we’re all God’s children and we’re all family.”
In an interview with Fox 10 WALA, Mitchell said, “It’s a blessing to be a blessing, and it’s also awesome to put a smile on people’s faces. I love working with World Vision…you can help a kid right here in the U.S. or overseas. That’s what’s so beautiful.”
Mitchell is also still promoting his latest project, GOOD BURGER 2.
“GOOD BURGER feels like comfort food,” he told NPR. “When you eat comfort food, you have a memory of the first time you ate it, and then the moment that you’re eating it [now]. And so that’s what GOOD BURGER 2 gives you, all this great nostalgia, but then [also] what’s to come in the future and what you’re doing now.”
He continued, “And the family aspect of it all, where this is a movie that you can watch with everyone, you know from grandma all the way down to the toddler, everybody can be on the couch. We’re bringing that back where you can just have the whole family watch and no one has to leave the room.”
