TWILIGHT actor Kellen Lutz is trading fantasy movies for true-life stories in the new Dr. Jeff Huxford biopic, FINDING NORMAL.

“The film will chronicle the real-life journey of Dr. Jeff Huxford, who defied all odds following a car accident that left him with a traumatic brain injury and a devastating prognosis,” Deadline reported. “Against the backdrop of a picturesque Norman Rockwell Americana town, his unwavering resilience and the transformative power of family and faith helped him redefine his life in the face of adversity.”

The movie will be directed by Jordyn Ferguson, and produced by April Kennedy, Gabrielle Almagor, and Matthew H. Morris, with executive production by Roger Goff.

The movie shares its title with the doctor’s book of the same name. Huxford’s website provides more detail about his experience:

On May 3rd, 2012, Jeff Huxford was in a near-fatal car accident and suffered a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), an injury that eventually resulted in an abrupt and premature end to his medical career. It was during this difficult and trying time of “uninvited” change, however, Dr. Huxford began to “unexpectedly” find his true value and purpose rooted in Jesus. He began discovering a multitude of wonderful truths about the unfathomable love and amazing grace of God.

Deadline reported that the movie will begin production in North Carolina later this year, and the anticipated release date is yet to be announced.

Huxford shared his enthusiasm about Lutz’s involvement in the biopic on Instagram Thursday:  “So excited to have @kellanlutz on board to help share our story of “Finding Normal.””

Lutz also shared, “Excited to bring this beautiful story to life @jeffhuxford @jjhux @aprilekennedy @jordynnferguson @gabriellesmithalmagor @deadline.

Movieguide previously reported on Lutz’s faith:

“My faith is everything,” he told Fox News. “I don’t know how people who don’t believe in something can have hope in anything.”

His faith helped him and wife Brittany as they mourned the loss of a daughter six months into the pregnancy.

“It still is hard when the dates come around, but I know in my heart that she’s up in heaven,” Lutz said. “We named her, and I can’t wait to see her. So that’s the hope. We’re here on Earth for a finite period of time. And up there, I’m going to be so joyful and so down here, I can be joy-filled knowing that. And that’s what keeps us going.”
