By Movieguide® Contributor
Kelly Rizzo, wife of actor and comedian Bob Saget who died unexpectedly in January of last year, recently reflected on the loss of her husband, the support of his daughters in a time of grief, and the wonderful memories she cherishes.
Rizzo told People Magazine:
Each day is a mixture of remembering him as my sweet and adorable husband who was my best friend and did everything he could every day to make me feel loved and special… mixed with me remembering him as how the world saw him… a great comedian, a person who could bring out the best in people, and a man with a philanthropic heart who only wanted to help people.
…
The most comfort I have received is from Bob’s daughters. I can’t imaging not having each other through this painful journey. They are true miracles and angels and the gratitude I have that we have each other is immeasurable. I thank God for them every day.
Saget’s untimely death last year was a shock to both family and fans.
As the New York Times reported in a February 9th article by Jesus Jimenez:
Mr. Saget, 65, was found unresponsive on Jan. 9 in a hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lake, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office….“Now that we have the final conclusions from the authorities’ investigation, we felt it only proper that the fans hear those conclusions directly from us,” the family said.
Saget became a household name with his starring role in Full House, his standup comedy, and later his philanthropy and charity work. Friends, as well as family and fans, had and continue to have much to say regarding Saget’s loss. John Stamos, on hearing of his passing, and who starred alongside him in Full House where the two reportedly became fast friends, said on Twitter last year: “I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby.”
