Ketchup Entertainment officially picked up LOONEY TUNES movie COYOTE VS. ACME, which Warner Bros. tabled in 2023.
“We’re thrilled to have made a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to bring this film to audiences worldwide,” the chief executive officer of Ketchup Entertainment, Gareth West, said in a statement to the media. “COYOTE VS. ACME is a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling, capturing the essence of the beloved LOONEY TUNES characters while introducing them to a new generation.”
Warner Bros. originally shelved the movie due to a leadership change and “to take a tax write-off,” according to ABC News. It spent $70 million to produce the movie, and Deadline says it had the deal with Ketchup “pegged in the $50M range.”
The movie sees the return of iconic LOONEY TUNES villain Wile E. Coyote.
“After all of the products made by ACME Corporation backfire on Wile E. Coyote, in his pursuit of the Road Runner, he hires an equally-unlucky human attorney to sue the company. When Wile E.’s lawyer finds out that his former law firm’s intimidating boss is ACME’s CEO, he teams up with Wile E. to win the court case against him,” a synopsis reads.
It stars John Cena, Lana Condor, Will Forte and Tone Bell.
Just yesterday, Cena posted a photo of Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner to his Instagram. While he didn’t write anything in the caption, fans speculated in the comments.
“Coyote Vs Acme is now saved by Ketchup Entertainment and will come out in 2026!!! Can’t wait to see it!!!” one person said.
“WE ARE SO BACK,” another wrote.
“Are we back?!🔥🔥” another person commented.
Dave Green directs, while Samy Burch, James Gunn and Jeremy Slater all took part in the writing of the film. Chris deFaria and Gunn serve as producers. It’s currently eyeing a 2026 release date.
This isn’t the first movie Ketchup Entertainment has saved from Warner Bros. Last year, Ketchup acquired THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP: A LOONEY TUNES MOVIE, which garnered around $10.5 in revenue at the box office. Ketchup Entertainment is hopeful COYOTE VS. ACME will produce a bigger theatrical run.
