Kirk Cameron Believes America is Ripe for Spiritual Revival

Having seen the family of faith across the country last year during his book tour, Kirk Cameron explained why he believes America is ripe for a revival even as Christianity faces increasing aggression.
“About a year ago, I wrote a book called ‘As You Grow,’ which is teaching children how to grow the Fruits of the Spirit through the seasons of their life,” Cameron said at a recent event. “And I wanted to read that in a public library like other groups read books at public libraries about other stuff that’s not so wholesome. And I was denied by over 50 woke libraries that had previously held drag queen story hours for children.”
“I sent a letter to those libraries explaining to them that this is the United States of America and that they are directors of a public library paid for by the citizens of the United States,” he continued. “And what they [were] doing by denying me and accepting others with a leftist progressive viewpoint and discriminating me for my Christian viewpoint is illegal. That it’s actually a violation of the Constitution of the worst sort.”
“It [was] actually viewpoint discrimination based on religious viewpoint, and that is in our Amendments, in the Bill of Rights. And that if they continue[d] to do that, I will be prepared to assert my constitutional rights in court,” Cameron added. “Well, that caught their attention, and they reversed course.”
During one of his readings at one of these libraries that had previously denied him, Cameron saw a mini-revival take place. He was given a tiny room to do his reading, but hundreds of people showed up. They were denied access because of fire codes, but they moved to different floors in the library and broke into smaller groups to hold readings of their own.
“We later found out that this was the largest event that had taken place in the history of this library,” Cameron said. “And the cop that was in charge of security said, he was like, ‘God opened a window because nobody like this ever comes here because of the leadership…’ This is like something we haven’t seen before, and it dawned on me. It could just be the beginning of some kind of waking up in the country.”
Across the entertainment industry, the beginning of a revival seems to be taking root. Movies like SOUND OF FREEDOM and JESUS REVOLUTION are connecting with a widespread audience, while shows like THE CHOSEN are finding unprecedented success. Last year, the Asbury revival also saw thousands of college-aged kids come together to worship Christ.
“I want you to know there are tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, I think, millions of people who want to go our way but they feel alone and marginalized and silenced,” Cameron said. “They’re afraid to stick their neck out because they know that there’s going to be consequences.”
“What if this national setback that we’re experiencing… is actually a divine setup for a spiritual comeback?” he continued. “[Spiritual revivals are] always happening during times of spiritual apathy, moral decline, political corruption, economic collapse. I think we’re there and this could be the church’s finest hour. I’m so excited to be here at this time on the stage of the world placed by a sovereign God.”
Cameron made the comments while speaking to families at an event at Beacon Hill Classical Academy in Camarillo, California.
According to the Beacon Hill website, “The most important component of a successful education is through Christian discipleship. We want our children to know their catechisms and their creed–so they have a ready answer of their faith. We want our children to memorize many Proverbs–so they can live skillfully in the Fear of the Lord. We want our children to sing the Psalms–so their hearts and minds are trained to speak, rejoice, lament, and praise in a manner pleasing to God. We want our children to know the Scriptures–so they may profit from its teaching, reproofs, corrections, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). Above all, we want our children to know Christ–in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3).”
