Kirk Cameron, Candace Cameron Bure Preach Kindness When Faced With Anger
By Movieguide® Contributor
Candace Cameron Bure joined her brother Kirk Cameron for a conversation about staying kind when faced with anger.
“I always try to think about their perspective or where they’re coming from,” Bure said when asked how she handles conversations with people who don’t share her beliefs or who are unkind. “I think trying to look at it, hear their perspective, and have empathy can help diffuse that.”
“We can still be kind and loving but speak truth and be strong in those words and stand up for God, stand up for what’s right,” she added. “We just don’t have to yell and scream and pound our fist and just say things that we’ll regret.”
Bure pointed to the power of a “gentle, calm voice,” with Cameron adding, “That’s just proving God’s word true; in Proverbs, it says that a gentle word, a kind word, will just sort of calm a situation, but an angry word is going to stir up even more strife.”
Movieguide® previously reported on the siblings’ thoughts on kindness and strength:
Candace Cameron Bure and her brother Kirk Cameron recently sat down to talk about the importance of staying kind, even when faced with criticism.
She continued, “Kindness takes effort. I think that’s why it’s so challenging. We have to learn it. We have to apply it. It becomes an action [and] we have to be mindful of it.”
However, Bure was quick to stress that being kind when speaking to someone who doesn’t agree with your faith does not mean agreeing with what they’re saying.
“Kindness doesn’t mean you have to be agreeable,” the actress explained. “It just means you have to be kind and respectful within the conversation, or whatever action is taking place…we can be kind and loving, but [still] speak truth and stand up for God.”
Bure and Cameron both use their platforms to spread their faith and values.
Bure is getting ready for Great American Pure Flix’s Christmas season. The network will focus on different aspects of the holiday, including “Keeping Christ in Christmas.”
“We are excited to begin spreading the joy of Christmas to our Great American Pure Flix members with uplifting and inspiring movies and programs in this season,” Great American Media president and CEO Bill Abbott said.
Cameron is sharing his faith through his popular children’s books. His latest, “The Fox, The Fair, and the Invention Scare,” teaches kids the importance of compassion.
“I thought, this is the lesson our children in America need to hear. And in Russia and in the Middle East,” Cameron told Fox News, referring to the ongoing conflicts around the world. “Love is a better way to live than hating and killing each other.”
