Kirk Cameron’s Honest Message to Parents: ‘Kids are Being Reprogrammed’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Kirk Cameron has traveled the country reading his books to kids and parents. But recently, Cameron shared a message to parents about the public school system.

Cameron said, “So often, Christian parents will sort of justify tossing their children into a public school for seven hours a day, being indoctrinated to hate what the parents believe in terms of God, hate what they have been taught about America.”

He added, “And kids are being totally reprogrammed and parents will say this — ‘Well … they’re in the mission field of the public school,’ and they’re justifying their apathy about their children’s spiritual formation by calling them evangelists.”

Cameron then cautioned parents about protecting their kids because children are simply not equipped to handle what they will face in public school.

“You don’t throw children onto a battlefield in Iraq,” he stated. “First, you must train them, equip them, show them how to use the weapons that they’ve been given, and identify the enemy, and only fight as a last resort and … that’s what we need to be doing as parents. That’s our sacred trust that God’s given us.”

Movieguide® recently reported on Cameron’s new book, “Pride Comes Before the Fall”:

When chatting on the book’s storyline Cameron stated, “There’s danger, adventure, waterfalls.”

He continued, “With a nation that is so saturated with the idea that pride is a good thing, the Bible warns us that pride is the deadliest of the seven deadly sins. Before greed, gluttony, sloth, wrath, envy and lust – is pride.”

“It’s the mother vice that gives birth to all the other dangerous things on the list,” he added. “I want to teach children the importance of being humble and kind.”

Cameron went on to say, “In the Bible, God devotes an entire book to warning against the dangers of pride and encouraging humility. It’s the Book of Proverbs – and every proverb there is about ‘down with pride, up with humility,’ because God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble.”

He concluded, “The great learning in the Scripture is this: Pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
