Korie Robertson Wants ‘To Experience God More Fully’ in 2023
By Movieguide® Contributor
DUCK DYNASTY star Korie Robertson recently returned to social media with a lengthy Instagram post about her desire to feel God’s presence in her everyday life.
“In 2021 my word for the year was ‘present’ for 2023 it’s ‘presence,’” Robertson wrote under a slideshow of family photos. “Only 2 letters different, however one is about me, becoming present with those around me, with what’s right before me, with God. It was a good word.”
She continued, “This year, however, the word ‘presence’ is all about the desire to experience God more fully in every single moment of my life.”
Robertson explained that she has struggled with meditation and “sitting quiet with God free from distractions” but plans to work on it this year. She also revealed that she took a break from social media in January.
“After a month off, it extended another week or so before I even realized it was February and I still hadn’t logged back in,” she explained. “When I first logged out I have to admit for a bit I simply exchanged one habit for another. Instead of looking at instagram I went to the news app and learned everything I never knew I wanted to know about Harry and Megan.”
Robertson continued, “Once I got to the end of that though, I had time to discover what I really want to spend my time on…That is to simply sit at the feet of Jesus. I want to be ever in awe of God. I want to be Mary, not Martha. I want Jesus to say of me ‘She has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken from her.’”
While she’s back on social media, Robertson shared that she was “hopefully better” after her break from Instagram, then sent out a prayer for those “suffering right now from the earthquake to wars to hunger, to whatever you might be going through. I pray that you experience the presence of God in your life. He is with us.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Robertson’s thoughts on the negative side effects of social media:
Korie Robertson called the hate she sees on social media “shocking” and offered a few tips to practice kindness instead.
“The hate I see on social media always shocks me, I guess it shouldn’t anymore, but it does, and I hope I never get used to it,” said the DUCK DYNASTY alumna. “Can we disagree without being ugly?” Robertson rightfully asked.
Robertson, who has almost 2 million Instagram followers offered three practical tips for social media users to check their attitudes.
According to her post Robertson’s tips are:
-
- Broaden our circle.
- Make it a practice to say something positive first.
- Ask for God’s help.
Robertson shared how the National Prayer Breakfast encouraged her to think deeply about hate versus love:
Willie and I were just in D.C for the National Prayer Breakfast and the speaker’s message was perfect and timely and straight from the mouth of Jesus, “Love your enemies” @arthurcbrooks reminded us that Jesus didn’t just call us to tolerate or to be civil to those we disagree with (even that would be nice in our world right now) but Jesus called us to something far greater. He called us to LOVE! ⠀
