Kristin Chenoweth hopes her new song for KING OF KINGS will bring people “to the most important story ever told.”

“About two months ago, my manager Justin says, ‘How hard do you want to work?’ I said, ‘Why?’” the actress and singer told Angel Studios while attending the premiere of KING OF KINGS. “He said, ‘Angel Studios has come to me about their new [movie, KING OF KINGS]…Would you like to write and do a song quickly?’”

Chenoweth continued, “I said, ‘Give me some of the best songwriters in Nashville.’ And we did, and we wrote this song in about five days, and I recorded it two days later, and it is in the movie.”

Chenoweth’s “Live Like That” plays during the closing credits of the movie, and in a statement about the track, she said she was “deeply honored” to be part of KING OF KINGS.

“The opportunity to contribute musically to a film that explores the life of Jesus Christ is both a professional and personal milestone,” her statement continued. “I hope my song can touch the hearts of everyone who watches THE KING OF KINGS.”

The actress elaborated on this in her conversation with Angel Studios, saying, “I’m so proud of it, but mostly, I’m proud of the message of the movie, and that I get to have a song in a movie that is about…probably the most important story ever told, in my opinion.”

“I knew I wanted it to be a song that could be heard by everybody, no matter what their faith, so that they could maybe be brought to the film and be brought to the most important story ever told,” she concluded (video via YouTube).

In a statement from Brandon Purdie, executive vice president of global theatrical of Angel Studios, he shared, “Kristin’s voice is not just a performance, it’s an experience. Her involvement elevates ‘THE KING OF KINGS to an even higher artistic level, ensuring that the film’s message will linger long after the credits roll.”

Chenoweth’s performance for KING OF KINGS is a wonderful addition to the movie, sharing its message with a wider audience and encouraging people to experience “the most important story ever told.”
