Lady A Postpones Tour to Aid Band Member Charles Kelley in Sobriety
By Movieguide® Contributor
Lady A announced that they are postponing their upcoming tour as band member Charles Kelley gets sober.
The Request Line Tour was initially supposed to begin on August 13, but will be pushed to some time in 2023 to give Kelley the time he needs.
“Being on the road with our fans is our greatest joy, so it was a hard but important decision to make,” the group wrote in a statement. “We are a band, but more importantly… we’re family. We’re proud to say that Charles has embarked on a journey to sobriety.
“So, right now in order to be the healthiest, strongest and most creative band we can be, Lady A will take the time with the support of our families and team of professionals to walk through this together,” the statement continued. “It’s early on this road, but we are determined to do what will best set us up for many more years together. We’re grateful for your patience.”
The group also let ticketholders know that they will be contacted soon about new ticket information.
Kelley has not spoken publicly about his sobriety journey, but alluded to it in a recent Instagram post.
“Fired up for this one,” Kelley wrote on a post about Lady A’s upcoming collaboration with BRELAND, “Told You I Could Drink.” “Ironic since I stopped drinking haha.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Kelley’s pride in being an American:
People all over the country are celebrating Independence Day, and that includes Lady A’s Charles Kelley.
“It’s a great celebration and reminder of this great country we get to live in,” Kelley explained. “And every time I think of Fourth of July, all I can think of is Lee Greenwood. I don’t know why, ‘Proud To Be An American.’”
“It’s like always right when you say it, I smell barbecue and I’m hearing Lee Greenwood over and over and over,” Kelley continued.
Kelley, like many Americans, is a fan of Greenwood’s “God Bless The U.S.A,” which reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.
