Country music stars Lainey Wilson and Zach Williams partnered up for an energetic performance of “Go Tell It on the Mountain” for this year’s CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS special.

“I’m looking forward to this,” Williams said during a backstage interview. “This is gonna be fun…This is an honor for me. I’m a big fan [of Wilson], and so getting a chance to do this song and then just be here and be a part of CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS. Some of my favorite artists are performing. It’s awesome.”

“I’ve been a fan of yours for a really long time,” Wilson added, sharing her admiration for her duet partner. “Getting to do ‘Go Tell It on the Mountain’ – which, I grew up going to Baskin Baptist Church, and every single year around this time, this is what we would sing.”

The performance was part of the 14th CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS special, which included performances from other popular country artists, including Jordan Davis, Lindsey Stirling, Ashley McBryde and Jon Pardi. Amy Grant and Trisha Yearwood hosted the holiday celebration.

Williams has been celebrating Christmas for most of December through his “I Don’t Want Christmas to End” tour, which began at the beginning of the month. Though he has a long history in country music, Williams has turned to Christian music in recent years, writing songs about how God was present during his darkest days.

The singer also joined TobyMac and MercyMe on tour earlier this year to continue spreading God’s light through his platform.

Wilson, meanwhile, has had a stellar year in the country scene, earning Album of the Year at both the CMA and ACM awards. The album has also been nominated for Best Country Album at the 2024 Grammys. The album, “Bell Bottom Country,” is only Wilson’s second major label record.

Williams and Wilson’s “Go Tell It on the Mountain” duet and the rest of the CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS special are now available to stream on Hulu and Disney+.
