Lakers star Trey Jemison most recent Sunday Bible study encouraged his fans to trust God’s plan for their lives.
He began the study posted to his Instagram by reading from 1 Samuel 16. The passage sees God send Samuel to a man named Jesse who had eight sons to look for a new king for Israel.
When Samuel arrived, Jesse showed Samuel seven of his eight sons, but each time the prophet said, “No, he is not the one.”
1 Samuel 16:11-12 continues:
So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”
“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”
Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features.
Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”
“I don’t know if it was on purpose or what it was, but Jesse didn’t even bring his youngest son into the room where they were about to anoint king,” Jemison said in the video. “They had to wait. They had to go wait for David to come.”
“And what God’s been telling me is was meant for you is meant for you, even if you’re not in the room when they were looking for what you’re looking for, if it’s meant for you,” the basketball star added.
“And God’s been on me heavy. Like, ‘Stop worrying about what’s next or what’s to come. Do what I’m telling you to do, and what’s meant for you is meant for you. You gonna get it when it’s time,'” Jemison concluded.

Jemison is vocal about his faith. In a recent video he posted of him playing, he wrote, “Power comes from God⚡️,” accompanied by Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”
He believes that his NBA career came from God, too.
“There’s no way I should be in the NBA. There’s no way I should be 6’10”. There’s no way I should be with the Lakers right now,” he reflected. “When God has opened doors for me I have to remember who brought me here. So my platform is used to impact peoples lives.”
