Lauren Daigle Finds ‘Spaces of Rest’ to See God’s ‘Kingdom Vision’

Christian artist Lauren Daigle is sharing the importance of rest.

“When you realize how much movement is consumed in this job and in this role, you really have to be particular about times of rest,” Daigle said during an interview with WGTS 91.9. “Because you’ll never get them. And it’s not anybody’s fault! It’s just the way the business works.”

The singer recalled a conversation with former Hillsong singer Taya Smith, who told her, “You’re not going to be able to say yes [to everything] for much longer…because when you say yes to something, you want it to have value. If you continue to say yes to everything, you being connected to something won’t have value anymore.”

Daigle took that advice to heart, especially as she promoted her 2018 album “Look Up Child.”

“It was a season where I had to learn how to build up spaces of rest,” she explained.

Finding moments of stillness allows Daigle to “facilitate being given heavenly vision for things.”

“I want kingdom vision in my life,” she explained. “I’m like, ‘God, give me the kingdom vision. What is it that I need to see? What is it that you want to reveal to me? How can I…exist on this planet bringing forth your kingdom?'”

Busyness, however, makes it harder for her to hear God’s voice. “Taking time away to say, ‘God, I want to receive the vision.’ It just means those two kind of correlate with rest,” the singer explained.

Daigle often talks about the importance of mental health and explores the topic in her music.

Her most recent album, “Lauren Daigle,” “was this rebirth process,” Daigle told PEOPLE. “My whole world fell apart, and I had to learn how to find myself again.”

The album came after Daigle took a five-year hiatus from music to focus on her mental health.

“[God] always talks about renewing your mind,” she explained of that time. “And I realized, through the process of making this record, how vital that is. I know that anxiety attacks and panic attacks and fear are taking over mental health. We hear that talked about all the time. But there’s something that comes with renewing your mind.”

She continued, “This record God used to rejuvenate me and to remind me of the pure things, remind me of the good things, remind me of the things that actually matter, not just according to the industry, but according to the Kingdom.”

Grammy award-winning artist Lauren Daigle discussed how she trusted God to help her overcome loneliness and anxiety brought on by the pandemic…

“From that experience I started dealing with a lot of anxiety, a lot of depression, a lot of panic attacks and I was seeing a neurologist,” the musician continued. “I was going to therapy; I was trying to figure out what was going on. My life just felt like it was fully flipped upside down.”

Amid her mental health struggle, God transformed Daigle’s perspective…

“When you allow God to come into those broken places and say, ‘I’ll return to you the joy of your salvation,’ it is like this beautiful lens gets added to your eyes, and you’re able to see through [it]. It’s like a glory filter, like walking through life and seeing the kingdom versus the things in the natural,” she explained
