Lauren Daigle Celebrates Adoption on CBS’ A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

By Movieguide® Contributor

Lauren Daigle is promoting the importance of adoption with her latest musical project, CBS’ A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS.

“Each year, CBS Television Network presents an inspirational program featuring uplifting stories of adoption from foster care to help raise awareness of this important social issue,” the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption wrote in a statement about the event.

Daigle is one of the program’s featured artists, alongside Gavin DeGraw, David Foster & Katharine McPhee, Pentatonix and CeCe Winans.

“I got the call a couple weeks ago and immediately was like ‘Yes!’” Daigle told PEOPLE. “Opportunities where we encourage people to get involved in foster care and in these children’s stories, I think it’s the most important thing we can do.”

She continued, “I’ve seen some children’s stories that haven’t turned out the best. I’ve seen children get turned back into the hands of their predators. I’ve watched it in my own family’s story. When people ask me, ‘If you could do anything with your career,’ I always say I want to rewrite legislature for children in this country.”

“The show provides the opportunity to show how these kids’ lives have been transformed,” Daigle continued. “When you feel those children’s hearts and you see the ache that they have experienced and then how adoption can provide a sense of stability and worth. It’s pretty priceless.”

Daigle also shared that she has plans to adopt.

“I tell my friends all the time, ‘Why don’t we all just say we’ll adopt at least one kid and just see where that goes?'” she said. “I feel like if we all can do it together as a sisterhood, then we’ll be able to support each other.” Adds the star, “It’s like an adoption pact. I tell them I might adopt more children than I have biologically.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the importance of adoption:

Kirk Cameron and Steven Curtis Chapman are sharing their thoughts on the life-changing experience of adopting a child.

Chapman said the adoption process has “transformed” his family, adding, “What a picture of the Gospel!”

“I think it’s John Piper that says it’s the visible gospel, adoption,” the musician continued. “It’s this tangible experience or expression of what we as the sons and daughters of the living God have experienced. We get to reenact that, we get to see that unfold in real time when we enter into the miracle of adoption.”

Cameron shared that his wife was adopted as well, saying, “My whole family exists because of the beauty of adoption.”

A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS airs Dec. 22 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
