Lori Loughlin Receives Second Chance at Acting Career: ‘Grateful’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Following a college admission scandal which landed her two months in federal prison, Lori Loughlin is grateful for a second chance in Hollywood.

Movieguide® recently reported on a statement Loughlin released after the scandal:

“I went along with a plan to give my daughters an unfair advantage in the college admissions process,” Loughlin stated. “In doing so I ignored my intuition and allowed myself to be swayed from my moral compass. I thought I was acting out of love for my children. But in reality, it only undermined and diminished my daughters’ abilities and accomplishments.

“While I wish I could go back and do things differently, I can only take responsibility and move forward,” she added. “I am truly, profoundly and deeply sorry. I’m ready to face the consequences and make amends.”

According to Megan Heintz with Closer Weekly, an inside source for Loughlin said she is “happy to finally be back with her daughters” and that “there’s still a lot to work through.”

“The biggest hurdle for her is repairing her relationships with Bella and Olivia. That’s the priority,” the source added. “Lori feels that she’s a changed woman, and her girls have changed too. There’s a lot of work ahead. It’s going to take time.”

Loughlin spent much of her time in prison reading, praying and turning to God.

“Lori passed her time in prison reading books. The time was spent reflecting on what she did, and she takes full responsibility for her part. She went through all the stages — anger, guilt, embarrassment and then accountability,” the source added.

Movieguide® also wrote:

“According to Us Weekly, Loughlin said her first night in prison was discouraging but soon established a routine that includes prayer.

Us Weekly reported that Loughlin, a mother of two, regularly attends church services at the federal correctional facility.

“Lori has been praying a lot,” Us Weekly’s source said.

Other than a small circle of inmates she calls friends, Loughlin keeps to herself.

Yahoo! Entertainment reported, “Compelled by the court to do community service, Lori, 59, turned to Project Angel Food, an organization that helps feed needy people. In addition to boxing groceries, Lori has delivered meals on a weekly route to hungry people. ‘They have welcomed me with such open arms when I was feeling particularly down and broken,’ she said of the charity. ‘It is a community; it is a family and all the people that work here are so wonderful.’”

Another friend of Loughlin said, “Lori never understood how privilege worked. It was a major life lesson. Today, she is more aware of her blessings and how others aren’t as financially fortunate. It sounds like such a cliché, but she walked through the fire and has come out a better person.”

“Lori’s grateful for the second chance,” Loughlin’s friend stated. “Her whole family learned valuable lessons, and they’re all better off because of it.”

Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade also said, “I feel like I have such a supportive family. We’ve all stayed really close through everything, so that’s all you can really ask for.”
