LSU Baseball Player Cade Beloso Keeps Faith Amid a Disappointing Setback
By Movieguide® Contributor
Eager to begin his fourth year in 2022 as LSU’s designated hitter, Cade Beloso tragically tore his ACL right before the first game of the season. Despite everything, Beloso held onto his faith in the middle of disappointment.
In a recent interview with the Reveille, Beloso said “I believe God has a plan for everybody. Your plan’s laid out whether you know it or not, so you’ve just got to trust God’s plan with that. I think everything absolutely happens for a reason.”
Beloso had surgery in May to repair the tear. In an Instagram post that he shared while in the hospital, Beloso wrote the caption Jeremiah 29:11, which says “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Cade believed that regardless of this deep disappointment, God still had a plan.
Now in his fifth season, Beloso has come back to the game strong. As stated in an article by Sports Spectrum, “He hit a three-run home run in Sunday’s 8-3 win over Kentucky, a win that sent LSU to the Men’s College World Series for the first time since 2017.”
During an interview with a local TV station, Beloso expressed his deep appreciation for his team and coaches. “That’s what makes it so special, you know? We love each other. We love the coaching staff, and it just trickles on down. We’re so excited.”
In regard to last season’s disappointment, Cade Beloso said “Surgery taught me so much, to appreciate the little things in life. My whole perspective of life completely changed, and I think that’s helped in my baseball game too. Every time I play a game, I don’t think about, ‘Man, I need to get a hit,’ or, ‘Man, I need to make that play.’ It’s just like, ‘Man, I get to play today.”
Beloso looked to God and didn’t let his accident keep him down. Since returning, the LSU Tigers have remained undefeated in five postseason games.
