Country star Luke Bryan gave a special performance of his song “Jesus ‘Bout My Kids” in honor of AMERICAN IDOL’s Easter Sunday episode.

“Faith & fatherhood from @lukebryan,” a post from the AMERICAN IDOL account read. “Powerful message in #JesusBoutMyKids!”

Fans loved the performance, sharing their appreciation in the post’s comment section.

“Man, can we just acknowledge how many times the name of Jesus was lifted up tonight?” one person wrote, while another commented, “The most amazing AMERICAN IDOL ever is this season. So much talent and more!! Tonight God is more alive than ever. This is what real singing is all about, Praising our Lord and Saviour.”

“Jesus ‘Bout My Kids” featured on Bryan’s 2024 album, Mind of a Country Boy. The song details Bryan’s experience telling his children about Jesus, and how now, he speaks to Jesus about his kids as they grow up.

“I used to talk to my kids about Jesus, He knew and loved ’em long before I did,” the song’s lyrics state. “I used to talk to my kids about Jesus, Now I talk to Jesus ’bout my kids” (lyrics via Genius).

Bryan spoke to Taste of Country Nights about the song, sharing that it’s the “first time” he’s mentioned his Christian faith in his music.

“This song is totally real to our family environment, and I’m sure a lot of other people out there,” Bryan said, adding that he is “proud” of the song.

He continued, “This is a song that I could go to any church of this world of ours, any Christian church, and sing this song, and it can be interpreted very Christian-like. I think it’s a beautifully written song that every parent can really relate to…Especially raising your kids in a Christian household, which is what my wife and I strive to do.”

Bryan and his wife Caroline share two sons, Bo, 17, and Tate, 14. The couple also adopted Bryan’s sister’s children — nieces Jordan, 28, and Kris, 24, and nephew Tilden, 21 — following the deaths of their parents.

“We’re really proud of their relationship with Jesus,” Bryan said of the kids. “We’ve worked together to really make that a thing in our home. Certainly, when we’re sitting down at dinner and saying our prayers.”

Bryan’s performance of “Jesus ‘Bout My Kids” was a hit with fans and a reminder of the ways faith can impact someone in new ways once they’ve become parents.
