Macaulay Culkin, a former child star, is standing up for his peers and asking the media to play nice with them as they navigate hard situations.
“Dear ID, Please take it easy on the kiddos,” the HOME ALONE actor wrote on an Instagram post. “We’ve all been through the wringer. No one wants to feel exploited. Don’t pile on. Love, Macaulay Culkin.”
The post was in response to Investigation Discovery’s HOLLYWOOD DEMONS docuseries which is highlighting crazy stories from celebrities’ lives. The second episode of the series focused on former child actors who went off the rails, which Culkin believes is extremely disrespectful to profit off of.
The series is one of many that expose the entertainment industry in regards to how it treats child actors. However, instead of focusing on the adults in the industry who exploited these children — as the other documentaries typically have — Investigation Discovery shined a light on the kids.
Perhaps the largest documentary of this type is last year’s shocking QUIET ON SET which exposed people in the industry who were abusing kids throughout the ’80s and ’90s. One of the stars who came forward for the documentary was Drake Bell, who starred in Nickelodeon’s DRAKE AND JOSH.

“The things that were happening to me were so — it’s a big word — but gruesome,” Bell told TODAY. “Not only is it really difficult to speak about and put into words, but I’m also not really in an environment where I think [the documentary producers] would want to put that on national television. It’s too graphic.”
After QUIET ON SET was released, Kirk Cameron, who was a child actor in the ’80s, praised the documentary for exposing the predators who have been enabled by the entertainment industry to prey on kids for decades.
“Thank God I got out of there unscathed in the 1980s,” Cameron said. “Those people who did this stuff to these kids are the same kind of people in the industry today. Still making twisted, sick, perverted material that’s hurting children today. And they need to be completely rooted out and replaced.”
“God has exposed them,” Cameron continued. “He’s drug the evil out into the middle of the street in broad daylight and this is the time for brave Americans to take charge of their children’s entertainment and their education and start doing something about it.”
Cameron believes that the best way to protect future children and root out this evil is to support child-friendly, biblically-rooted entertainment, rather than allowing these people to get away with their evil by producing perverted shows.
