The MALCOM IN THE MIDDLE revival will see the return of some familiar faces and some new ones, too.
Frankie Muniz will resume his role as Malcolm. Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield are coming back in their roles as Francis and Reese. Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek will return as parents Al and Lois. Per Variety, Dewey’s role will have a fresh face, though — Caleb Ellsworth.
Other actors include Anthony Timpano as Malcom’s youngest brother, Jamie; Vaughan Murrae as Malcom’s youngest sibling, Kelly; Keeley Karsten as Malcom’s daughter, Leah; and Kiana Madeira as Tristan, Malcom’s girlfriend.
MALCOM IN THE MIDDLE Season 4 introduced Jamie into the mix, and the series finale gave a hint about Kelly when Malcom’s parents said they were going to have another baby.
Kelly is “the youngest child of Lois and Hal, who is self-sufficient, gets good grades and already wiser than most of the family.” Leah is described as “the daughter of Malcolm and has the same sarcastic humor, same impulsiveness and the same frighteningly high intelligence as him, but she’s far more sensitive and emotional.”
The logline reads: “Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.”
Disney Reboot
Disney Branded Television will head the reboot with four episodes. It will begin production in Vancouver soon.
Writer and executive producer Linwood Boomer will return to his past role. Ken Swapis will direct and executive produce. Cranston, Tracy Katsky of KatCo, Gail Berman, Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehmann will executive produce. Jimmy Simons and Laura Delahaye will co-executive produce.

Frankie Muniz previously revealed that the revival was almost a movie, as it was originally pitched, and the series finale leaves plenty of opportunity for more MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE stories in the future.
On Monday, Muniz shared his excitement for the reboot on X: “Just started watching MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE episode 1. Got 151 to catch up on before we start filming again in a few days!!! Can’t wait to get back together with my old family.”
