Great American Family is celebrating its fifth Christmas anniversary this year with a new original film starring Mario Lopez.
A CHRISTMAS SPARK is about a lawyer who leaves his successful lifestyle to become a firefighter, training alongside younger cadets. The movie also features THE BAXTERS’ Ali Cobrin, Deadline reported April 22.
“It has been a joy to produce and star in A Christmas Spark,” said Lopez. “The movie is extra special to me because of my admiration for firefighters who worked night and day to save lives and property during the recent fires in Los Angeles.”
“Each time I wore the firefighter uniform it was a personal tribute to the brave men and woman who worked tirelessly to save our city. Their courage, selflessness, and resilience embody true heroism, and this project is dedicated to them…true heroes.”
President & CEO of Great American Media, Bill Abbot, said the anniversary is a “major milestone” for the company.
“What began as an alternative new holiday tradition has become a beloved cornerstone for viewers who want uplifting stories rooted in faith and family and marks a truly special milestone,” he said.
Last year, Lopez signed a multi-movie, multi-year deal with Great American. He starred in his first holiday movie for GAF last year with MY GROWN-UP CHRISTMAS WISH which he made and starred in alongside his wife, Courtney Lopez, and son, Dominic Lopez.
Of working with GAF, Lopez said last year, “I look forward to creating uplifting, inclusive, and diverse content, viewed through a positive lens for all ages. At this stage in my life, family is the most important thing to me. Being able to share family-friendly stories representing diverse voices is a true blessing.”
A CHRISTMAS SPARK started filming last month in Buffalo, New York, It’s a Wonderful Movie reported on March 27.
Cobrin posted lots of behind-the-scenes moments from the set on her Instagram on Friday.
She said, “Behind the scenes on a sparkly 3 weeks with a dream crew of folks who shuffled off to Buffalo to make an Untitled Mario Lopez Christmas movie full of wonder and joy 🎄🎅🏻”

She joked in the caption, “My unauthorized audition for @chicagofire_nbc 🔥”
Corbin and Lopez’s new movie doesn’t have a release date just yet, but fans can expect it to release in November or December 2025, with October being the earliest possibility.
