Mark Cuban Leaves SHARK TANK for Family: ‘I Don’t Want to Miss Anymore’ Time

Mark Cuban had 16 seasons as a host on SHARK TANK, but now it’s time for him to put that aside and focus on what’s important—family.

“I had a good run…” Cuban shared on Good Morning America Oct. 15. “It was really weird…but yeah, it’s been a great run. I love the show but it was just time.”

He said the sole reason for his departure is to spend time with his kids.

“When they were younger, my wife and I got to tell them where to be and when; now they ain’t listening to us,” Cuban said.

“We shoot in June and September, which is when my kids… go back to school and I’ve missed it for so long. Now they’re teenagers. I just don’t want to miss any more of that.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Cuban’s relationship with his three kids:

Entrepreneur and businessman Mark Cuban recently shared that he will be proud of his children whether or not they want to make it big in the business world like him.

Cuban spoke with Kevin Hart on his show, HART TO HEART, and shared a little about his kids.

“My son, Jake, he’s hustling and selling stuff all the time. My middle daughter, Alyssa, is 16, and she’s kind of the artist. Then my oldest, Alexis, is kind of — she’s got the world in front of her, wherever she decides to go. She’s a freshman in college,” Cuban said.

“I just want them healthy and happy,” he added.

Of his favorite things he invested in on SHARK TANK, Cuban says Dude Wipes takes the cake.

“You gotta wipe. We all wipe. Everything’s a potty joke to them and their business is great,” Cuban said.

“They’re killing it. They’re going to do 100-plus million dollars. They’re taking over the toilet paper category,” he joked. “So wipe early. Wipe often.”

The most memorable pitch he’d ever seen was a cat brush shaped like a tongue that’s designed to be held in the mouth.

“Robert literally licked the cat brush,” Cuban recalled. “…He has never lived that down. Never.”

When asked if there was an “investment that got away?” Cuban said it’s Spike Ball.

“It annoys me. Like we ever go to the beach or my kids’ friends, they all play, every time I see it, it just reminds me I missed out. It’s a great company.”

His advice for aspiring small business owners is to “Go for it.”

“The only way you can get to your next level, to you know, the American dream, start a company and see where you can take it,” he shared. “You got to go for it and just also realize nobody remembers my failures. I had a powdered milk company. Nobody remembers that.”

“It doesn’t matter how many times you fail you only got to be right one time and then everybody can learn from the failure,” he said. “…The economy now is wide open to businesses. There’s…new businesses being formed every year now, [more] than ever before. So the opportunity is there always.”

As Cuban departs SHARK TANK, KIND Snacks founder Daniel Lubetzky has stepped in as a full-time shark on the show.

Lubetzky said of being granted a place on the show, “My mom’s still around and hopefully she’s proud and I hope my dad is looking from above and seeing not just what I’ve achieved, but how I achieved it by trying my very best to always follow the values that he taught me.”

Cuban’s final season and Lubetzky’s first airs today on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
