Mark Wahlberg: ‘My Faith and My Family, Those are the Most Important Aspects of My Life’

In an interview with FOX News Digital Wahlberg discussed his faith and family and why they are the most important parts of his life.

Wahlberg stated, “I attribute everything good and everything positive in life to my faith. … As soon as I started putting my faith and focus on God, good things started happening for me.”

“And even when they didn’t, it gives you the coping skills to deal with things that are inevitable, like loss and failure and those things. But, you know, again, my faith and my family, those are the most important aspects of my life,” he continued.

Wahlberg also mentioned his recent move from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and what impact that has had on his family.

“My kids are doing fantastic,” he expressed. “You know, I wish I would’ve made the move sooner. … I spent lots of time in LA pursuing my own professional aspirations. And, so, to be able to now put them in a position to where they can pursue theirs, their interests, it’s definitely the right thing to do, and it’s long overdue.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Mark Wahlberg shifting his focus from movies to family:

Mark Wahlberg is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, but he recently shared that he’s been thinking about stepping away from the spotlight.

When asked about when he might retire from acting, Wahlberg said, “Sooner rather than later, probably.”

The main reason he’s considering retirement? His children. Wahlberg said that being away from his kids for long stretches of time is hard on him.

“[A project’s] gotta be something special to really bring me, you know, to leave home, to leave those guys behind,” Wahlberg said. “Because it’s the biggest sacrifice in the making for sure.”

The actor also talked about his latest project, FATHER STU, and what making the movie meant to him.

“I feel like this is starting a new chapter for me in that, now, doing things like this — real substance — can help people,” Wahlberg shared. “I definitely want to focus on making more. I wouldn’t say necessarily just faith-based content but things that will help people. So, hopefully this movie will open a door for not only myself but for lots of other people in Hollywood to make more meaningful content.”
