Maverick City’s Chandler Moore Invites Listeners to ‘Be Honest’ With God in New Song
By Movieguide® Contributor
Maverick City Music worship leader Chandler Moore shared a more vulnerable, personal side in his latest song “Honest.”
In an intimate and stripped-down guitar/vocal video, Moore sings about his struggles with being faithful to God:
“God, can I be honest? I’ve been doing things I shouldn’t be doing. It gets worse in the darkest. Tryna put my faith in what I can’t see. I know it’s crazy cause it ain’t good for me. But don’t you ever leave me just for being honest.”
“I wanted to do something special and invite y’all into my personal therapy session,” Moore introduced the song in his Instagram post. “So from my heart to yours, ‘Can I be honest?’”
Earlier this year, Moore posted that he was wanting to make music that would reach a wider audience, while still keeping his music Christ-centered.
“On a mission to produce & create more music from that perspective. Music that the world can sing along to, and while they’re singing it, God uses it to sneak into the heart of the listener to do what He wants,” the worship leader posted. “Music that I can sing about my love for my wife, the same love that glorifies God. I want music about life and love that has a perspective that is safe for my kids who love God to listen to.”
In addition to his busy music career, he and his wife Hannah welcomed their second baby together, Preston Chandler Moore in July this year.
“We are overjoyed and even more convinced of the goodness of God to our family. Another Prince has joined the Moore Family,” Moore wrote.
This is Moore’s fourth child; he also has two sons Chandler II and River, and a daughter Krue Grace.
Movieguide® reported on Hannah’s thoughts after the birth of their daughter:
The pain is nothing compared to holding your sweet baby in your arms every single day speaking life over them.
The exhaustion is nothing compared to staring into your beautiful baby’s eyes imagining all they will become.
The challenges are nothing compared to kissing your little ones perfect face, fingers and toes and saying I love you almost 50 times a day.
One day I will go into detail of my full experience and what my day to days look like, the emotions, all the things but for now, I am just so overwhelmed with the call to be mommy to a beautiful baby girl. There is nothing like it.
