Max Lucado Calls BECAUSE OF BETHLEHEM ‘Perfect’ Way To Celebrate Christmas

Pastor Max Lucado calls his latest project, BECAUSE OF BETHLEHEM, “a perfect way to step into the Christmas season.”

“This special live event will remind audiences that the spirit of Christmas is much more than a pretty tree with presents piled up underneath, but a time to reflect on the true Gift of the season,” AMC Theatres reported of the movie event.

“It’s an evening of music, an evening of message, and an evening of ministry. And yes, it involves some of the greatest artists of our generation,” he said while appearing on Shannon Bream’s “Livin’ The Bream” podcast.

BECAUSE OF BETHLEHEM features performances from CeCe Winans, Anne Wilson, Matt Maher, Evan Craft and Matthew West.

“Together, we weave an evening of Christmas music and Christmas messages recorded in a beautiful, beautiful setting in Nashville, Tennessee,” Lucado continued. “It’s a perfect way to step into the Christmas season…if you need just a little warmth, if you need a reminder as to what makes Christmas Christmas, this would be a great way to spend an evening.”

BECAUSE OF BETHLEHEM is based on Lucado’s book of the same name.

West has even written a song inspired by the book called “Because of Bethlehem.”

“I saw the title of the book, ‘Because of Bethlehem,’ and immediately thought, ‘that would be a great song title!’” the singer told the Christian Beat. “Then it became my mission to write a song and surprise my friend Max with lyrics that would hopefully capture the same heartbeat of his book. The message is this: the hope of the world had humble beginnings. It’s because of Bethlehem and the birth of a savior that we can experience joy, love, peace, and even the hope of eternity.”

Lucado has previously spoken about what Christmas means to him.

“Christmas tells us that God knows what it is like to be a human,” he told Religion News. “I love Christmas. It invites us to believe the wildest of promises: God became one of us so we could become one with Him. Clear the table; clear the calendar. Call the kids and neighbors. Christmas is here. Christ is here.”
