After a three-week absence from GOOD MORNING AMERICA, Michael Strahan is now back on the show.
The former NFL player took time off from GMA in late October for “personal family matters.”
“On Wednesday, Strahan stepped into gear as if no time had passed,” USA Today reported. “He interviewed Rachel Zegler and Viola Davis about their upcoming movie THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES and Chris Pine for Disney’s upcoming animated film WISH.”
Strahan had also stepped away from his role as sports analyst on NFL SUNDAY and returned last Sunday.
“Can I just say we have tears of joy because Michael is back here at the desk,” Robin Roberts, Strahan’s GMA co-host, said on Wednesday.
Strahan replied, “It is great to be back.”
He appeared relaxed and happy as he talked with co-hosts and guests on the show.
“No other details about Strahan’s circumstances that led to his lengthy absence were given during the two-hour broadcast,” PEOPLE observed.
Strahan previously shared why he loves his job on GMA: “First of all, I get to work with fantastic people. Smart, engaged, funny people,” he told USA Today.
“Another favorite part is that it changes. It’s never the same,” he continued. There’s no two days where you, ‘Oh yeah, same news.’…The enjoyment of that makes me more engaged because I understand work can change at the drop of a hat.”
Movieguide® also reported on newscaster Al Roker’s return to the TODAY show:
TODAY anchor Al Roker recently made a surprise return to Studio 1A after missing shows during his recovery from knee surgery..
During a segment on a recent episode, Roker shocked co-hosts Craig Melvin, Dylan Dreyer, and Sheinelle Jones by suddenly appearing in the studio with a loud laugh. All three were quick to give Roker big hugs.
“Al Roker, he just shocked us with a little surprise pop-in,” Melvin announced. “We weren’t expecting that — clearly.”
