Michael W. Smith is capturing the spirit of Christmas this year with his new family-infused album “Every Christmas.”
“I have never been shy about my love of Christmas and how many family traditions we have surrounding it,” Smith said. “Being able to put out a full-length Christmas album featuring my family in some way on every song, is a dream come true. I hope this album is the soundtrack to many other family’s Christmas memories.”
“Every Christmas” weaves together six new songs with six songs from his 2022 EP “Christmas At Home.” The album was co-produced by Smith and his son, Tyler Michael Smith, and features his daughters, Whitney Mooring and Anna Smith, along with his 17 grandchildren.
“Christmas is our family’s favorite time of year. It’s a season filled with special memories, big and small,” Smith wrote on Instagram. “I find myself counting the blessings of the season. When you listen to this album, I hope you hear my children creating, my grandkids singing, and a family rejoicing in the birth of Jesus Christ.”
The family focus of the album is also reflected through the songs, many of which highlight the importance of family—especially around the holiday season.
“Every Christmas” takes “Christmas at Home to a new level, with some beautiful, magical new surprises, including some of my favorite hymns,” Smith shared.
Smith is a large advocate for family and has spoken at length about the importance of whole families. He emphasizes the necessity of fathers and how difficult it is for children who grow up without their fathers.

Contemporary Christian artist Michael W. Smith recently sat down with comedian John Crist for an episode of his podcast, NET POSITIVE, to talk about their faith and the importance of fathers.
Smith shared that his relationship with God began when he was young, due to his parents’ own strong faith. As he got older, his relationship with God changed, and Smith started playing music in bars and doing drugs.
“I thought I could play with the fire and I got burned,” Smith explained.
Despite it all, his parents’ never turned their backs on him and continued to root for his success.
