Michael Weatherly Receives Cool Gift as NCIS: TONY & ZIVA Wraps

NCIS star Michael Weatherly received a cool gift to commemorate the first season of his new show, TONY & ZIVA, as filming comes to a close.

Weatherly was gifted a custom pair of Adidas sneakers with his show’s name and logo on them to commemorate the end of filming on the first season. Filming on the show took place in Budapest and just wrapped after six months.

The show reunites two of the most beloved characters in the NCIS universe, Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, after over a decade. After working alongside each other, the pair got together in Season 10 and remained a couple until Ziva’s apparent death during the finale of Season 13. Ziva’s death, however, was later revealed to be faked as she went undercover after the attempt on her life so she could avenge her would-be killer in peace.

“The new series picks up after Tony and Ziva were reunited in Paris (off-screen) following the revelation she was alive and her completing one final mission with NCIS,” TV Insider reported. “Since then, Tony and Ziva have been raising their daughter Tali, together. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so that they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.”

While providing a look into the characters’ lives since leaving the agency, NCIS: TONY & ZIVA promises to be a fresh look at the characters rather than rehashing worn plotlines.

“We know that we have a past. We know that we have worked together. We know that we are friends, we know that we have gone through really good times, really challenging times in the show, as friends, in life, and now we’re going to be working together and hopefully we’re going to be drawing from all of that,” de Pablo previously explained. “And we have to understand these characters, much like Michael and Cote, have evolved.”

“I think the dynamic that emerges is going to be a really brand new one. And I have no idea what that’s going to feel like,” Weatherly added. “I can’t wait…I’m looking forward to that, the real energy and exhilaration of acting with one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with, Cote de Pablo.”

Though there is no set release date, NCIS: TONY & ZIVA will air exclusively on Paramount+
