MIGHTY DUCKS Star Shaun Weiss Hopes Addiction Story Is ‘Useful’ To Others

MIGHTY DUCKS star Shaun Weiss is hopeful that his story of addiction and recovery will help others who are struggling with the same issues.
Weiss was arrested in 2018 for public intoxication and again in 2020 for burglary while under the influence of methamphetamine.
Today, Weiss is sober and has even made an acting comeback, landing his first movie role in 14 years in JESUS REVOLUTION.
In a recent appearance on ADDICTION TALK, Weiss opened up about what led him to drugs and how he managed to overcome his addiction.
The actor said he started taking drugs when the lease on his apartment ran out, his then-fiancée left him, and his father passed away.
“It was instant relief,” he said. “I stayed chasing that next fix. I had gone down such a spiral I didn’t know what to do to get myself out of it.”
Weiss lost his possessions, including his cell phone, which led him to lose contact with friends and family. He made no real efforts to reach out because of the shame he felt from his addiction.
“It’s a big reason for why people don’t reach out for help. When we’re in our addiction we tend to burn people,” he explained.
The turning point came when, after his 2020 arrest, a judge ordered him into a recovery program. Weiss said this program saved his life.
Now, he’s hoping that his story will inspire others who are also fighting to get away from drugs and alcohol.
“I’m really hoping my story can be useful, so it’s not just a sad thing that happened,” Weiss said.

JESUS REVOLUTION actor and former Disney star Shaun Weiss recently celebrated three years of sobriety over a methamphetamine addiction.
Weiss posted a celebratory photo on Instagram, thanking everyone for their support. The caption reads, “3 Yrs ago, today, I was in jail. I asked the deputy if he would ‘please shoot me.’ He urged me to ‘stay positive Goldberg.’ Thanks, you guys for holding me down. Is that still a saying??”
Weiss was arrested three years ago after breaking into a Christian man’s home.
Weiss later entered rehab and got clean.
After five years without a role, Weiss returned to acting last year playing a minor part in the JESUS REVOLUTION. Weiss was also baptized while on the set of JESUS REVOLUTION by the real Greg Laurie.
