Missy Robertson Reminds Followers God ‘Works in the Quiet of Our Hearts’

DUCK DYNASTY’s Missy Robertson is looking back on her 2022 and reminding her followers to always be prepared for what’s around the corner.

Robertson shared her experience fasting and praying for 21 days along with members of Church of the City in an Instagram post.

“During those 3 weeks I heard speeches and sermons about how people were seeing God’s will more clearly, witnessing amazing things God was doing and experiencing life-changing events in their lives that God was revealing to them in a BIG way. None of that was happening to me,” she wrote.

Robertson continued, “I kept thinking I wasn’t doing something right, that I was not achieving the same level of closeness with God as others. I was enjoying reading the Word, spending time with the Father and growing in my relationship with Jesus, but where was the supernatural encounters others were talking about?”

She then described the moment when, three weeks after finished her fast, someone called her to say that a baby had been signed over to her.

“A lot has happened since then and there is still lots to do, but of this I am confident: God does not always work in a way that attracts big attention,” she said. “He works in the quiet of our hearts. He prepares us in the still moments.”

Robertson continued, “God chose me and my family to care for AK and to give him a warm, safe and loving home. The effects of saying ‘yes’ to this baby have been some of the hardest things I’ve ever encountered. There is no way to explain the drama, emotions, disappointments, uncertainties and battles we have fought to keep him safe. But he is worth it. Every baby is worth it!”

“I know Jase and I set a foundation that changed his life, and he has definitely changed ours,” she concluded. “We have been overwhelmingly blessed to be able to include others to share in the responsibility of caring for him. We hope one day soon we can share his sweet face with you. He is precious! God was preparing me a year ago today for my AK moment. Will you be ready for yours?”

Robertson then provided her advice for 2023:

My advice for 2023 is get to know your Savior better.

    1. Choose to fast from something, anything, for 21 days this month
    2. Read one chapter of John each day (there are 21 chapters)
    3. Watch one episode of @thechosen each day (there are currently 21 episodes + a Christmas special)
    4. Pray and listen each day
    5. Wait and watch your heart change

God is faithful. Jesus never changes. If you have put on Jesus as your Lord in baptism, the Holy Spirit is living inside of you (Acts 2:38). You don’t have to beg him to come into the room. He’s always with you!

Cheers to 2023 and to what God is ready to do through you!

Movieguide® previously reported on Robertson’s decision to take in another child:

Former DUCK DYNASTY stars Missy and Jase Robertson are candid about their Christian faith and recently decided to show Christ’s love to a newborn baby.

“In the years past, Jase and I have been involved in multiple ministries — some that we are engaged in with other people, some that we ran ourselves,” Missy told CBN’s Faithwire. “And in one of those ministries, we got to meet some amazing women, and it was one of these women who needed help at this time.”

One of these women had just given birth and needed help taking care of the newborn because she could not “physically take care of” the child. She asked the hospital to call Missy, and the baby was signed over to her.

“When my phone rang and I talked to the person at the hospital, I thought, ‘There’s no way I can. How can I do this?’” Missy admitted.

Missy said she was unsure how her husband, Jase, would react to the news. But Jase wanted to help just as much as she did.

“He said, ‘I think we should do everything we can to help this baby and this mother,’” Missy shared. “And I said, ‘OK, well, here we go,’ and we brought him home the next day.”

In Missy’s new book, “Because You’re My Family,” she reflects on God’s family.

“The book talks about parents loving a child, but the last [few] weeks the Lord has probed me more to even think about it being outside the family — the family of God,” she said. “And this girl, Jase baptized her a couple of years ago and Phil preached the Gospel to her, read Scriptures to her in his living room and I tried to show Jesus to her on almost a daily basis. And when this happened, she thought of us.”

The situation is not set in stone, but the Robertsons have temporary legal custody and trust God to guide them through the situation.
