MLB First-Timer Praises God After Making Historic Home Run

Wes Wilson thanked God after making history during his first-ever MLB game with the Philadelphia Phillies last week.
Wilson landed a spot with the Phillies this year after seven years in the minor league organization vying for a spot on an MLB team.
Wilson posted a photo of his new locker announcing his move to Philadelphia. He wrote, “Man, so excited and blessed to have this opportunity! Looking forward to an awesome 2023 season! @phillies.”
While his season began in the Phillies Minor League, Wilson was given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity last week as he was called up to the big league after the team’s left fielder was injured.
During his first-ever Major League at-bat, he went yard, hitting a solo home run, something only 136 other MLB players have ever done.
ESPN posted a video on their Instagram of Wilson’s at-bat and wrote, “After spending 7 seasons in the Minors, Wes Wilson hit a home run in his first career MLB at-bat, and his father was brought to tears ?? (via @mlb).”
As Wilson rounded the bases, the camera cut to Wilson’s family celebrating his home run.

As Wilson hit home plate, he thanked God.
Following the game, he shared a series of photos, writing, “A day that I will never forget. The day I was able to live out my childhood dream. I’m filled with so many emotions. Phillies fans, you are unbelievable. You welcomed me with open arms from the start!”
Wilson continued, “I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. I couldn’t have gotten here without my relationship with the Lord, the help and support of my beautiful wife, my loving family and friends, coaches, staff, teammates, and so many more! Thank you to everyone that’s supported me over the years.”
“I feel so blessed to have been part of such a special night,” he concluded. “Congratulations to @mlorenzen21on your no-hitter and @casty_8 on your 200th homerun. Two unbelievable and deserving guys. CBP was electric! I’m excited for what’s to come!”
There is no telling how long Wilson will remain with the Phillies, but for now, he is going to continue to glorify God.
