Natasha Bure Grateful for How Parents Raised Her: ‘Very Close’

Author Karen Kingsbury and her daughter Kelsey talked with Candace Cameron Bure and her daughter Natasha about growing up and the relationship between mothers and daughters.

When asked about their mother-daughter dynamic, Candace shared how Natasha has always been strong-willed.

“Natasha’s always had a really strong will a very strong opinionated personality,” the actress said. “She was like that in my womb. I mean, she was like kicking and punching in my belly and she’s still kicking and punching today, but for like good reasons.”

Bure shared how, as a teenager, Natasha was difficult, but her challenges turned into strengths.

“I knew from all of my friends that had gone before me that had strong willed children that there will come a day, if you continue to pour in and you continue to train and teach them the word of God, that God will use it for good, and for like righteous good. And I am so happy how strong Natasha is and knowing how she’s going to use it and channel it,” she added.

Natasha shared how thankful she is for her mother and her family.

“We’re very close. We talk all the time, and I’m very inspired by her, obviously work-wise, but our family is so close,” she said.

“I will say, I think that I don’t really know a lot of families that have as great of communication as ours does and like really just hashing out issues in the moment and learning from them and like taking the time to understand each person and how their brain works,” Natasha added. “It’s been cool that her and my dad have raised us that way, and I think that’s like really truly what has kept us so close.”

Kingsbury and Bure also discussed the author’s new movie SOMEONE LIKE YOU.

“It’s so good,” Bure said. “For it being your first time, I was beyond impressed because it looks like you guys have been making films for a long time. The quality of it is beautiful. It was shot beautifully. The script, well, I mean, you’re writing it so how can the script and the story not be amazing, but…it’s so well acted, and I enjoyed it from start to finish.”

The movie is based on Kingsbury’s book of the same name.

“I’ve learned when it comes to filmmaking, money holds the creative power,” she told PEOPLE. “My books have been adapted into other wonderful films and TV shows, but the only way to make the movie in my heart was to make it myself.”

“Based on the novel by #1 NYTimes bestselling author Karen Kingsbury, SOMEONE LIKE YOU is an achingly beautiful love story. After the tragic loss of his best friend, a grieving young architect launches a search for her secret twin sister,” IMDB summarizes.

Movieguide® previously reported on Natasha’s relationship with her mom:

Candace Cameron Bure’s daughter Natasha is grateful to her parents for “push[ing] Christ’s love” on her.

“My parents kept us — I wouldn’t say sheltered, but they kept us in a very tight-knit group. We always did things together,” she said while appearing on the “Happy and Healthy” podcast. “We didn’t spend a lot of time in the spotlight, which was nice.”

Natasha shared that her parents made sure to center faith in their family’s life, something that she appreciates today.

“I’m really grateful that my parents instilled all those values in me and really pushed Christ’s love on me so I could understand for myself what that looks like, and what it looks like without that, because I have experienced a time in my life where I wasn’t pursuing Christ, and just — how empty that feels…so I’m very grateful for how they raised me,” she said.
