The Emmys tapped clean comedian Nate Bargatze to host this year’s Awards show, bringing his family-friendly style to one of the industry’s largest events.
“Nate is one of the hottest comics in the business with a remarkable and hilarious brand of comedy that deeply resonates with multi-generational audiences around the globe,” said Television Academy chair Cris Abrego, per Variety. “We are thrilled to be able to leverage his one-of-a-kind perspective to entertain TV fans watching this year’s Emmy telecast.”
“It’s a huge honor to be asked to host such an iconic awards show and I’m beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world,” Bargatze added.
Being picked to host the Emmys is yet another accolade under Bargatze’s belt as he has accrued some amazing achievement since breaking onto the scene during the pandemic. While hosting shows at drive-in theater lots, he filmed a Netflix special that immediately placed him on the map.
In the years since, Bargatze has checked off most of his bucket list. From breaking attendance records at his hometown theater to hosting SNL to scoring a Super Bowl ad, he has proven he has lasting star power. Most impressively, Bargatze has done all of this while remaining clean and family-friendly.

“I just can’t imagine cursing in front of your parents,” Bargatze previously explained when asked why he keeps things clean. “Still, even now, I’m 43-years-old and I still just couldn’t do that. So that’s how I write. I think I write my comedy to — a lot of it is to make my parents laugh. I want them to be proud and be like, ‘Oh, come watch my son do comedy,’ and not be offended by it. I just don’t have that in me to want to offend someone or make someone feel bad.”
In an industry where foul language and content has ruled for decades, Bargatze has been on the front lines of change. Not only has he proven through his own success that there is another way, but he has since opened a comedy banner for clean comedians, allowing newcomers the chance to reach a wide audience.
“With Nateland, the goal of it was that…as we start acquiring other stuff and trying to eventually build out a world, I just want people to know if Nateland is attached to it, you can know kind of what it’s going to be,” Bargatze explained. “I’m not saying it’s all going to fit everybody’s demands or whatever, but if you like my comedy, it’ll fit along those lines, and I think it’ll be fun.”
The Emmys will be just another step in Bargatze’s meteoric rise in comedy. The show will take place on Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. PST.
