Everyone’s favorite family comedian Nate Bargatze is getting deep with the New York Times — he told the outlet he lives to serve God and his family and to make people laugh.
“I am second — second to God, second to family,” he said, adding he’s second to his audience and “everybody.”
“You kind of live to serve. So it’s very much a calling in that aspect that I feel,” he said.
He believes “people will write stuff off” if he comes straight at them with his Christian beliefs, so he tries not to be preachy. He hopes that shows appeal to people of all backgrounds
“When I started in comedy, some comics would be like, ‘Well, I’m not for everybody,’ and I was like, ‘Well, why would you not want to be for everybody?’ I want to be for everybody,” Bargatze explained of his family appeal.
He hopes his content will bring everyone of all ages together.
“There’s not a lot of stuff you can do with your family,” he said. “What I like about when people come to my shows is that it’s children to grandparents are at these shows. They’re able to go do something as a family.”
“I think a lot of entertainment now is not made for the whole family. Even television or movies can be separating in the fact that I’m watching NARCOS and my wife watches HOUSEWIVES, and there’s not a show that we’re necessarily watching together,” he said. “And so I do think there’s a void in that.”

The clean comedian has had several specials across Prime and Netflix, numerous tours and is working on his first movie, which he wrote and stars in, called THE BREADWINNER. Crosswalk reported it will come out next year. The plot is under wraps, but Bargatze has said the movie is a mix between MR. MOM and HOME ALONE.
“I’m excited to figure it all out — what works, what’s funny, what needs tweaking. It’s going to be a whole new world, and I can’t wait to learn,” he shared.
The comic revealed that he may not stick with stand-up for much longer.
“I don’t plan on touring and doing stand-up forever. I want to make movies,” he said. “People can think, If you get too big, are you going to change? The audience is very much in mind with everything that I will make.”
“Again, I try not to do it for me. It’s for you. I want them to be able to trust that,” he said.
Bargatze has an upcoming special on Netflix. He said he might do only one more after that.
“I don’t want to overstay my welcome. I also want to get out of the way. I need to let the next wave of comedians come up. I got this tour and then maybe one more,” he said.
As one of the world’s top comedians, its safe to say that wherever Bargatze goes, his fans will follow.
