It’s official — comedian Nate Bargatze’s first movie, THE BREADWINNER, will come out next year on March 13.

The comic stars in, co-wrote and is producing the family comedy, which Bargatze boasts is “in the vein of MR. MOM and HOME ALONE,” per Relevant.

The Wrap’s Adam Chitwood reported Dan Lagana is the other script co-writer. Eric Appel, who directed WEIRD: THE AL YANKOVIC STORY and some episodes of DIE HART, SILICONE VALLEY and THE AFTERPARTY, will direct the movie.

“It’s going to be hard to make something and then have to wait to see it,” Bargatze told Relevant last month. “I’m used to immediate reactions. Plus, I don’t know the first thing about making a movie.”

Despite that, the comedian is diving in headfirst.

“I’m excited to figure it all out — what works, what’s funny, what needs tweaking. It’s going to be a whole new world, and I can’t wait to learn,” he shared.

Except for TV comedy specials and some SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE skits, Bargatze has turned down Hollywood offers in favor of comedy tours. His jokes earned him the title of the world’s top-grossing comic two years in a row, and that might be three years in a row after 2025 is over.

A grocery brand, Adams Fairacre Farms, recently picked Bargatze as their next commercial role model. It announced it’s looking for candidates who have the “tone and style of Nate Bargatze.” So some Bargatze look-alikes might appear soon on a screen near you.

Bargatze recently wrote a book about his life — and appearance — that will come out on May 6. It’s called Big Dumb Eyes. Part of the autobiography’s description reads, “Nate Bargatze used to be a genius. That is, until the summer after seventh grade when he slipped, fell off a cliff, hit his head on a rock, and ‘my skull got, like, dented or something.'”

Before this accident, Bargatze had big dreams, but afterward, the only thing he could do was make jokes, so the book says.

On his social media accounts, the comic announced that he’s going on a tour of the same name, which kicks off on April 6 in Oslo, Norway. It will wrap up near the end of the year in Nashville, Tennessee — Bargatze’s home state.

Netflix has a couple of specials with Bargatze: NATE BARGATZE: THE GREATEST AVERAGE AMERICAN and YOUR FRIEND, NATE BARGATZE. He has another special, HELLO WORLD, available on Prime Video.

Whether it’s another special, a book, a movie or a tour near you, Bargatze keeps coming up with ways to endlessly and wholesomely entertain.
