NBA Superstar Steph Curry Calls Time At Home ‘The Best Part’ Of Being A Dad

Steph Curry is a 4-time NBA champ, but to his kids, he’s just Dad.

The basketball player recently revealed that his kids are not “impressed” with his sports accomplishments.

When asked if his children — daughters Riley, 10, and Ryan 7, and son Canon, 4 — are impressed by him, Curry answered, “I would hope to say yes but probably for different reasons. I don’t think they care too much about how many times the ball goes in the basket.”

“They’ve been to a couple parades and all that, so they enjoy the festivities of celebrating a championship,” he went on. “But when you’re at home you’re just Dad and that’s the best part about it.”

Curry spoke more about his favorite parts of being a father, saying, “You get to watch them grow and blossom and find their personality and support them and have fun with them. They like my goofiness and the way you just show up at home more than anything.”

He also shared his thoughts on the importance of his family, crediting them for giving him “the space to invest in my craft, and the amount of sacrifice it takes to work at that level, but also the unconditional support of wins, losses, great games, bad games, they’re there and I hope to be there for them in all that life throws at us.”

So, do any of his kids have their dad’s love of basketball?

Curry shared that Riley is “interested” in volleyball, while Ryan is “still figuring out if sports is her thing or not. Obviously, there’s no right or wrong answer there.”

Canon is still a little young for sports, but Curry has shared some photos of the pair passing a basketball back and forth.

In addition to his devotion to his family, Curry is also a strong Christian. Movieguide® previously reported:

NBA star Steph Curry has always been open about his Christian faith, even sporting a Bible verse from Philippians 4:13 (“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”) on his shoes. However, the basketball player recently revealed another verse that’s meant a lot to him.

While appearing on The High Note podcast, Curry revealed that the New Testament’s Romans 8:28 has been very important to him over the years.

The verse reads, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Curry explained that his mom was the base of his strong Christian faith, taking them to church and Bible studies.

“It kind of gave me the confidence to find out what that meant for myself,” Curry shared. “These last crazy 12 years in the league, a lot of it has come down to forming an identity and knowing where my foundation is so that with all the things thrown at me, like you said, I knew who I was and I know who I am. I credit my mom a lot for showing us the way.”

As he faced struggles as he launched his NBA career, Curry said that his mom continued to be a source of strength for him.

“My mom messaged over and over and over and over again, Romans 8:28, and that was the verse that she spoke life into me,” Curry revealed. “To me, that was something that I really believed. Whatever I put my mind to, whatever I decided, I was going to really work it and have that spirit of accomplishment.”
