NCIS Begins Filming for Season 20: ‘Miss Us? We’ve Got Good News’
By Movieguide® Contributor
NCIS fans, rejoice! CBS confirmed that production for the classic crime show’s 20th season is officially underway.
“Miss us? We’ve got good news — #NCIS is back in production for season 20 and we can’t wait to have this team back on our screens. See you real soon,” the show’s Instagram account captioned a group photo.
Season 20 is set to start airing September 19.
Movieguide® previously reported on the show’s upcoming twentieth season:
When Mark Harmon officially bowed out from NCIS after 18 seasons, fans and critics alike wondered if the series would continue.
However, as NCIS Season 19 came to a close on May 23, it is clear that the show remains a favorite among the majority of fans as CBS chooses a release date for Season 20.
With Gary Cole at the helm, playing the role of agent Alden Park, fans can expect more crime-solving in the upcoming season.
CBS renewed NCIS, NCIS: LOS ANGELES, and NCIS: HAWAI’I.
“NCIS, one of the most popular and enduring series in the world…” CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl said in a statement. “We couldn’t be more excited to have all three talented casts and creative teams back to bring more compelling NCIS stories to viewers in the U.S. and around the globe.”
Newsweek reported:
The jewel in the network’s crown is NCIS, which is its most-watched show in terms of total viewers and in the 18 to 49 demographic key to advertisers. It’s also the most-watched show on network TV in the U.S. in general, and the second out of all U.S. linear television behind Yellowstone.
Gibbs’ exit wasn’t the franchise killer that many feared it would be. Though viewership is down 22 percent on the show in general this season (per TVSeriesFinale), there was no negligible difference in viewing figures in the episodes Harmon featured in versus the ones after he left the show.
NCIS continued its ratings reign.
