By Movieguide® Contributor

NCIS star Brian Dietzen is giving fans an update on the show’s upcoming Season 21.

“Hello world. I’m putting these on now,” the actor captioned a picture of his character Dr. Jimmy Palmer’s glasses.

Not a lot is known about what fans can expect from the new season, but it has been confirmed that most of the main cast will return to NCIS.

“This includes Brian as Jimmy, Sean Murray as Special Agent Timothy McGee, Wilmer Valderrama as Special Agent Nick Torres, Katrina Law as Special Agent Jessica Knight, Gary Cole as Supervisory Special Agent Alden Parker, Diona Reasonover as Forensic Specialist Kasie Hines and Rocky Carroll as NCIS Director Leon Vance,” Hello! reported

The outlet added that David McCallum sadly will not be returning to his role as Donald “Ducky” Mallard, as he died earlier this year.

Movieguide® previously reported on McCallum’s death:

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of David McCallum and privileged that CBS was his home for so many years,” CBS said. “David was a gifted actor and author and beloved by many around the world. He led an incredible life, and his legacy will forever live on through his family and the countless hours of film and television that will never go away.”

“We will miss his warmth and endearing sense of humor that lit up any room or soundstage he stepped onto, as well as the brilliant stories he often shared from a life well-lived. Our hearts go out to his wife Katherine and his entire family, and all those who knew and loved David,” the network’s statement concluded

McCallum is survived by his wife Katherine; his children, Paul, Valentine, Peter and Sophie; and his eight grandchildren.

As always, fans are also wondering if Mark Harmon will make a return this season.

“Never count Leroy Jethro Gibbs out,” showrunner Steven D. Binder told Parade. “What the future will hold I can’t say, but I wouldn’t count anybody out, dead or alive, on the show.”

Movieguide® previously reported on NCIS Season 21:

CBS recently announced when new seasons of shows like NCIS and FBI will return following the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Deadline reported, “After 118 days of the actors guild being out on strike, SAG-AFTRA and the studios on Wednesday reached a tentative deal on a new contract that could see Hollywood up and running again within weeks.”

NCIS star Brian Dietzen, who plays Dr. Jimmy Palmer, shared his excitement for the next season. “Couldn’t be happier! Can’t wait to get back to work!” he wrote on X.
