Need Courage? Kirk Cameron Reminds Us Where to Look

By Movieguide® Contributor

Kirk Cameron knows that courage is found in God alone. In a video posted to Instagram, the actor encouraged fans to rely on God because he is with us always.

“He said ‘Don’t be discouraged, don’t be afraid, for I am the Lord your God, and I will go with you wherever you go. Just as I was with Moses, I will be with you.’” Cameron said, referencing Joshua 1:9. “And that is where we get our courage. That is the secret fuel to be able to complete the mission. It’s not a result of positive thinking. It’s not just psyching ourselves up or screwing up our own courage. It’s relying on the presence of God who will never leave us.”

In a caption on the post, the actor wrote, “Looking inward for courage is not the answer. Looking upward IS!??????❤️ We get our courage from trusting in God’s promises and in His constant presence in our lives.”

Fans responded to the post in agreement. “Amen ? we can’t do it in our own strength but the power of the Jesus, the Holy Spirit and God’s promises. His word never returns void ??” one user said. Another person added, “We love ya Kirk! Thanks for always telling the word!?”

Cameron boldly declares his faith despite his Hollywood career.

His new kids’ show, ADVENTURES OF IGGY AND MR. KIRK, helps little ones explore wholesome, faith-filled values.

“Children are watching cartoons and television shows and they’re being filled with so many ideas and values that parents are not happy with that are confusing to kids,” Cameron said. “We want to shine light in that darkness, so we’ve come up with a show that reinforces wholesome family values — traditional, American, constitutional and biblical values — while maintaining the entertainment ‘wow’ factor.”

He also released Born To Be Brave: How To Be A Part of America’s Spiritual Comeback earlier this year to equip believers to stand up for faith in American culture.

“God did not journey from heaven to Earth to make us cowards in the face of evil; we were born to be brave,” Cameron wrote on his social media. “[The book] will give you, as a person of faith, tools for real hope and courage in the midst of the moral and cultural dumpster-fire we are experiencing in America.”
