Have you ever wanted to experience Little House on the Prairie‘s Laura Ingalls Wilder’s life? Netflix just opened a casting call to find the new Laura for their adaptation of the iconic books.
“In case you missed it… @netflix announced a new adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic Little House books! And now we’re excited to share that the search to cast the iconic role of Laura Ingalls has officially begun!” an Instagram post announced.
“Do you know an amazing child who could play the role of Laura Ingalls in this epic and thrilling family adventure? Check out the open casting call webpage to get more information about auditioning,” the post continued.
Submissions are due April 4.
Many people in the comment section expressed their excitement for the new opportunity. Actress Jennifer Garner commented an emoji of a girl raising her hand, as if to volunteer. Another user jokingly commented, “I am a talented 20 year old child!”
Executive producer and showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine is grateful for the opportunity to bring the story to a new generation.

“I fell deeply in love with these books when I was five years old. They inspired me to become a writer and a filmmaker, and I am honored and thrilled to be adapting these stories for a new global audience with Netflix,” she said in a statement.
The new show has a special connection to the original LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE series. Trip Friendly, CEO of Friendly Family Productions, will help executive produce the new series. His father, Ed Friendly, produced the original TV series.
“It has been a long-held dream of mine to carry on my father’s legacy and adapt Wilder’s classic American stories for a 21st-century audience in a way that brings together fans of both the books and the original television series,” Trip said.
“I am thrilled by our talented creative team led by Rebecca Sonnenshine who are bringing these beloved stories about family, community, and survival to long-time fans and new generations,” he added.
Vice president of drama series for Netflix Jinny Howe said, “Little House on the Prairie has captured the hearts and imaginations of so many fans around the world, and we’re excited to share its enduring themes of hope and optimism with a fresh take on this iconic story. Rebecca’s vision threads the needle with an emotional depth that will delight both new and existing fans of this beloved classic.”
The new series does not yet have a release date.
