NFL Quarterback and Christian Drew Brees wants to continue his career in football off the field.
The New Orleans Saints QB recently announced his retirement from the league and noted that he would immediately join NBC Sports as a football analyst.
“I’m part of the team now. A new team,” Brees said. “I’m excited about that journey, I’m excited to stay very closely connected with the game of football. It’s been such an important part of my life and I continue to be able to talk about it and show passion for it and bring my kids along for the ride there as well, and let them be part of some of those special moments.”

Over the course of Brees’ 15 years with the New Orleans Saints, he has won several awards, including Super Bowl MVP, after he brought his team to a championship win in 2010.
“I think for the last few years, I knew this moment was coming,” Brees said of his decision to retire. “It just made me so laser-focused on staying in the moment. Each and every day, enjoying the moment, enjoying the preparation, enjoying the grind, enjoying the celebrations with my teammates just knowing that at some point, I will retire and move on to the next chapter. And I want to look back with incredible memories and knowing that I gave it my absolute best.”
Brees, who shares four children with his wife Brittany, said he would miss the time spent with family on the field after games.
“They bring their footballs to the game knowing they’d have the opportunity to go on the field after to play,” Brees said. “Having them be a part of this and knowing there are memories and hopefully moments of inspiration for them that will last a lifetime. That’s what it’s all about.”
Aside from his trip to the Super Bowl, Brees also holds NFL records with the most career passing yards and most career pass completions in NFL history.
Brees, an outspoken Christian, has also received backlash for his conservative viewpoints.
Movieguide® previously reported:
Brees himself responded to the backlash by saying he lives by the two most important commandments: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.
“What I did was I filmed a video recently that was encouraging kids to bring their Bibles to school for national Bring your Bible to School Day,” said Brees.
“So I’m not sure why the negativity spread, or why people tried to rope me into certain negativity,” he added. “I do not support any groups that discriminate, or that have their own agendas that are trying to promote inequality. Okay? So hopefully that has set the record straight, and we can all move on because that is not what I stand for.”
